Seto

Seto struggled to keep his hood down as he rushed to make it to the town square. His black boots pounded against the stone road, causing obnoxious echoes. "Crap, crap, crap," he mustered. Seto, if at all possible, had grown worse at being on time to important events such as these.

Whispers from a small crowd caught his attention. Ducking his head, he walked slowly, trying not to be seen as the noticeably late one again. Someone had then proceeded to slap him on the back of his head. Clutching it, he turned around and looked at the culprit. Returning a goofy grin, was his best friend Mason.

Mason was the type to take nothing seriously; quite the opposite of Seto himself. He had blond hair, blue eyes, and apart from the fact that every girl wanted to get with him- he was a pretty cool guy. "Yo dude, you were nearly late!," Mason lectured. Seto shook his head. "So they'll hang me for that?," he joked. Mason gave him a small smile.

A hush came over the crowd and the two boys looked up to see the King approaching, seated upon a white stallion. The group gave a small bow, and the King dismounted. A circle formed around a raised platform. Climbing up and onto the platform, he towered above the two boys. He crossed his arms and cleared his throat. He opened his mouth, then closed it, as if considering what to say.

"We found three more this week."

A gasp came over the group as some shook their heads, other looked plain furious or just frowned.

"I am positive that the number of filthy scandals is decreasing greatly. I would like to thank my team of soldiers for risking their lives to keep us all safe. You may be dismissed."

The now scattering crowd let out whoops and cheers as they gathered their belongings and headed home. Quickly grabbing his messenger bag, Seto said farewell to Mason, and headed in the opposite direction.

"I'm home," Seto quietly greeted his parents at the door of his home. His mother gave him a tight hug. "How was it?," his father asked. "The usual," he replied. He was tired and didn't feel like explaining. "What did they talk about this time?," his father questioned, looking down at the floor.
Seto proceeded to let out a sigh.

"They killed three more sorcerers this week."

He looked up at his father, who was wearing an expression Seto couldn't begin to read. He nodded halfheartedly and looked back at Seto. "I'm glad something's being done about them." Seto knew his father was lying but nodded anyways.

Seto said goodnight to his parents and began to walk the staircase to his room, leaving his parents at the door trying to not let the tears still from their eyes.
