The Not Date

Cas wakes up in pain. As he gets ready for school he thinks about everything that happened the day before. It has been a big day. It had been the first day of grade 12,  he stopped a fight between Bal, Meg, and some bitch, been late for class, got detention, met an attractive boy, almost slashed the previously mentioned bitch's tires, got the cute boys number, was late for dinner, and pissed off his mother. She had been so angry.
~ Cas slowly opens the front door and quietly walks into the house, gesturing for Balthazar to follow, desperately hoping his mother hadn't noticed he was gone.
"Castiel! Balthazar! Is that you?" A  shrill voice calls to him. Shit she noticed.
"It's dinner time why weren't you here?"
"We had detention"
"What did you do to be sent to detention." She asks coldly.
"I sassed a teacher"
"And I got into a fight."
"You boys know how important it is that you be good, what will the neighbours think? That I raised a bunch of delinquents! I suppose you didn't do you homework either, did you? No, I thought not. Come upstairs you'll have to be punished for this. You need to learn you lesson."
The boys follow her upstairs, they know by now that fighting makes it worse. Lucifer proved that for all of them when their mother kicked him out into the streets with only what he could carry and told him that if he showed his face in the neighbourhood again she'd call the police.
She pulled a wooden walking stick out of her closet  and smacked Balthazar and Castiel with it until they both fell down bleeding. She never hit them anywhere people would see if they were what she called respectable. If they wore long sleeved shirts with collars and pants not shorts no one would see. She walks out telling them that they had scrub the blood from her floor before bed tonight and to get cleaned up and be at the table in fifteen minutes.~
When Dean had texted him Cas was going to refuse. What if his mother wants him home that night? What if Dean sees the cuts and bruises? But in the end he decided that he wanted to see the boy again.

For Cas it was the worst day of school he's ever had. He couldn't focus because of the pain from his cuts and from excitement about the 'totally not a date' with Dean after school. He got told off twice for not paying attention in almost every class but luckily he didn't get another detention. Classes were finally over and all he had to do was pick up his siblings and talk to his mom then he could meet up with Dean.
As he enters the house Gabe, Hannah, Tesssa, and Balthazar all hurry to their rooms but Cas walks up to his mother office and knocks on the door. He waits until she tells him she can come in then quietly enters the room.
"Mom," He starts, "I won't be here for supper today. I'm meeting up with a friend."
"What friend?"
"His name is Dean."
"Do I know his family? What's he like? Where did you meet?" Cas knows that she's only taking interest in him and his friends to make sure that he's hanging around with people who won't give him a bad reputation and by proxy her a bad reputation. The only reason he's aloud to be friends with Meg is because her father is very rich and powerful.
"You don't know his family but his Aunt owns a restaurant. He's very kind and nice, he has a lot of friends and we met in class."
"Okay, go have dinner with this Dean kid."
"Thank you."
Cas walks to his car and drives to the dinner Dean told him about. As he pulls up he sees that it seems in ill repair not as if it's been abandoned or isn't cared for but in the way that an old well lived in home would be. The window could use a cleaning, on the wall beside the door their is a faded torn piece of paper that he supposes must have once been for a promotion or deal and some of shingles look a little loose but it looks like someone just swept and he can see a girl wiping the tables and taking to a customer though the window. He walks in and sees that it's Dean the girl is talking to. He smiles and walks over to them.
"Hello Dean," he says when he's right behind him.
"Jesus Cas! You scared me!"
"Sorry I didn't mean to disturb you."
"Nah it's fine I just wasn't expecting you to be here yet. This is my cousin,  Johanna Beth."
"Just Jo is fine." The girl smiles. "So your Dean's sorta date? I'm his sorta cousin."
"Joanna Beth leave those boys alone help me in the kitchen!" A woman shouts
"In a minute mom!" Jo shouts, "what can I get you guys?"
"I'll have my usual." Dean tells her
She looks Cas and he scrambles realizing he hasn't looked at the menu yet.
"Do you need a minute to choose?"
"No... I'll have a cheese burger and an order of... Sweet potato fries" he says pointing to the first things he sees when he opens the menu.
"I'll start making those and well I'm gone no funny business in he restaurant." She winks and wiggles her eyebrows at them as she leaves.
"I'm sorry about her. I tried to tell her this wasn't a date but she wasn't having it. You know how siblings are." Dean explains.
"Siblings? I though she said she was your cousin?" Cas asks.
"Well... My little brother and I live with our Uncle Bobby, who isn't actually related to us but we call him uncle anyway, and her mom, Ellen, she actually owns this place married Bobby. So sorta cousins, sorta siblings, technically not related."
"Oh wow. Can I ask what happened to your parents?"
"When I was 4 and Sammy was only a baby there was a fire him, Dad, and me we got out she didn't. After that Dad wasn't the same. He tried his best but he couldn't raise us by himself and he ended up sending us to live with Bobby. He visits every once and awhile."
"That must have been hard."
"For a long time I was mad that he left us but I'm the end I realized it was probably for the best. We have a better life here with Bobby than the one did with him on the road. We have friends and Sammy can go to a real school."
"My father is away for long periods of time for work. While he's gone it's just my mother to look after all my siblings and me. That must have been hard when we were younger. I'm the 7th of 11 children."
"Jesus Christ that's a lot."
"Yeah it is but my 3 older brothers are moved out so its not too crowded anymore." They soon move on to less serious topics like school, and books, movies, and how Ms Abaddon is a bitch. Until
"What do you mean you haven't seen Star Wars!?" Dean shouts looking horrified and outraged. "We have to fix this right now!"
He grabs Cas's arm and processes to drag him out of the restaurant towards his car, only pausing to shout a quick 'thanks Ellen'  over his shoulder. Cas hears Jo shout something about ungrateful little shits while being dragged out the door.
"Um Dean. You know I have my own car right." Cas reminds him.
" Oh right. Do you want to follow me in your car?"
"Yeah that sounds fine."
Cas follows him to a house that looks like the restaurant, homey and lived in. When he pulls in the driveway Dean is already there pulling him into the house.
They watch episode 3 which Cas finds strange but Dean insists that you have to start on the third one not the first. Eventually the sounds of space age sword fighting fades and Cas loses the ability to keep his eyes open.
