Camrynne's POV
"The score is tied, it's the bottom of the ninth" Mitchell said as he watched the game, pretending he was a baseball announcer, "Camrynne Holmes up to bat"
"Yeah and the almighty annoying brother pretending he's a big shot announcer" laughed Jack from the sidelines.
"Just shut up and let me talk"
"And what if I don't"
"Then I'll-"
"Guys! Trying to bat here. Stop arguing so we can get on with the game." I said. Geez sometimes they can be really annoying. Scratch that- all the time!
I turned back to the field. Nathan was pitching, Hunter was the ump, Gavin was on first base, Will on second, Rhys on third and Isaiah, Xavier, and Noah were playing outfield. Before you make any assumptions, this is not my baseball team. All the players are my brothers. That's not even all of them, I have 3 more. Plus the 2 on the sidelines. One huge happy family- most of the time. Anyway, back to backyard baseball.
Nathan threw the ball, I gripped the bat ready to swing, it came at me at the speed of lightning. Okay maybe not that fast. I closed my eyes and swung the bat- Wham!! I looked up to see the ball flying through the air past everyone's heads.
I dropped the bat and ran as fast as I could, first base, second base, third base, I was so close to home. Isaiah had finally got the ball and threw it to Gavin. Gavin was throwing it to Hunter, the ball was coming fast so I slid for home. Just as I was about to touch the base and Hunter was about to catch the ball our mom called us from the back door.
"Kids!" She yelled causing everyone to turn their attention to her.
I was still sliding but wasn't paying attention and I guess Hunter wasn't either because the ball came sailing towards home and hit the side of his head. He yelled causing me to focus again but it was too late I couldn't control myself and I slid right into his legs. I knocked him over and he landed on my arm. I yelped out in pain and grabbed my arm with my other arm. It hurt so much.
Everyone ran over to us, including mom. I held my arm as Hunter put his hand over his left temple. I stood up and Jack brushed some dirt off my clothes.
"I'm so sorry guys, I didn't realize you were in the middle of a game."
"It's okay mom we weren't paying attention anyway."
"Let me see your arm Camrynne", I winced as my mom touched it. "I think it's broken, we need to go to the hospital to get it x-rayed and get them to take a look at Hunters head."
Hunters head shot up when he heard his name.
"No way am I going to the hospital, my heads fine see." He stood up but fell down and Mitchell was quick to catch him. Hunter is afraid of hospitals. He says they freak him out with all the big machines and stuff.
"Your going to the hospital and that's that", my mom said in a stern voice.
Hunter hung his head down and mumbled "Okay."
* * * * *
Hunter, Nathan, my mom and I got into my dads jeep and drove to the hospital. My mom parked the car and we all walked in, Hunter and I holding ice packs to our injuries.
My mom talked to the lady at the desk and signalled for Hunter to go over. Nathan and I sat in the waiting room as a nurse took Hunter into a room. Before they left my mom whispered something into the nurses ear, she nodded and walked away with Hunter.
My mom walked over to us and sat down beside us.
"They took Hunter in right away because it's a head injury" she said "but the lady at the desk said it shouldn't be to long of a wait to do your X-Ray."
