Louis woke up at about ten the next morning, hoping that all of last night was just a dream. He noticed the broken picture on the floor but didn't think much of it at the time. All he could think about was did his mommy actually leave last night or was it just in his dream. That and his body hurt a lot.
He limped around the top half of the house, calling out for his mommy but there was no response. He thought he could look in her room and find her there but when he walked in, it was an absolute mess. Clothes was thrown all over the place, there was broken glass on the dresser, and there was even a few pieces of glass from the body mirror connecting to the closet door on the ground. He decided he wouldn't look in this room anymore and took his "game of hide and seek" downstairs.
It was even worse downstairs. In the kitchen, pots and pans were thrown on the ground and from the looks of it, glass cups had shattered from being thrown on the walls. But it did look like someone tried cleaning up the mess just a tiny bit.
Louis looked everywhere else he could think of for his mommy. The garage, the laundry room, and even the basement but he just couldn't find her. So he walked across the street to his babysitter Ms.Granville.
She was absolutely speechless when she saw him at the door. She didn't know if she should bring up his bruises or the fact that he was suppose to be at school four hours ago.
"Ms.G," Louis started, "I can't find my mommy. I heard her and Mark yelling last night and now she's gone." He was close to tears by now so Ms.G pulled him into a hug and told him everything would be alright but she knew things wouldn't.
They went inside and Ms.G asked Louis to explain how he had gotten all those bruises.
"I think I got them from Mark. He came up to my room after I heard him and mommy arguing and he hit me and said it was all my fault."
"What do you mean you think? Do you not know where they came from?" she asked with concern flooding her tone.
"I don't know.." he trailed on, "I just thought it was a dream."
He began to sob at this point so he couldn't get out what he wanted to say. "I want," *sob*
"What is it that you want darling," Ms.G asked cautiously.
"I want-" his sobs cut him off, "I want," Louis tries again, "I want my mommy." He curled up in Ms.G's arms and just cried until he fell asleep.
When he woke up, he was met by two people he had never seen before.
The woman with the blue eyes and soft voice was the first one to speak up.
"Hi there Louis, how are you?" mystery woman number one said.
"I-I'm fine.." he said hesitantly.
Then the other woman, the one with brown eyes and brown hair, spoke up and her voice wasn't as soft and nice as the other lady.
"Alright Sam since you aren't gonna do it, I'll just cut to the chase. Listen kid, we have obvious reasons to believe that you're being abused in your home so you're gonna have to come with us," mystery woman number two said in a stern voice.
"Casey! You can't just do that ya know?? He's a kid for crying out loud!" Sam (apparently), scolded Casey.
"Where are you guys going?" Louis asked in genuine curiosity. He didn't understand what was going on but if he did, he would have started to kick, scream, and cry.
The nicer woman, Sam, decided she would explain to Louis since Casey had no filter.
"Louis, we're going to have to take you away from your home for a long time. We think it's unsafe for you so we're only trying to help you. Do you understand now?" Sam spoke cautiously.
A/N: Oh how I love my cliffhangers. It's pretty evil, I know but a story isn't good without any cliffhangers now is it.
