I sat there looking out at Harry, trying to hide in the darkness of my lounge room; watching Harry's encounter with Anne, she stared out blankly as she wrapped her thin baby pink dressing gown around her chest and ran her hand up and down her opposite arm quickly trying to warm herself up. Harry sat there staring into the darkness puffing on his almost finished cigarette.

"You know I don't like it when you smoke" Anne spoke softly; but just at a volume loud enough for me to hear

"You know you don't care about my health" Harry said sharply still with a blank face looking into the distance

"Don't say things like that Harold; you know I care about your health; and our families reputation" Anne replied looking at her son

"Don't call me Harold, Anne. If you cared about our family's reputation you wouldn't scream the whole neighborhood down every night when you and your husband fight, or should I say ex-husband" Harry responded angrily, raising his voice and taking another puff from the cigarette that was burning in his hand

"I know you are upset but you can't control what happens between your father and I. Harry, I have tried for years to make our relationship work; I never wanted you to go through this"
"Yeah well I did" he interrupted her, taking another puff and exhaling; before flicking the cigarette out of his hand and onto the cold concrete

"I'm sorry for that Harry, but we're better off without him; he will never lay a finger on you or me again" Anne said quietly; with her voice breaking; holding back her emotions. Harry sat there staring out with his knees raised and his arms resting on his knees

"I didn't ask for this. I just wanted a normal family" he said standing up quickly

"I know sweetheart; I just wanted you to be happy" Anne said whole heartily; standing up beside him and placing her hand on his forearm

"It's a bit late for that" he said pulling away and walking inside hurt

My heart swelled, as I sat there watching Anne place her hands over her eyes and began to cry but soon after pulled herself together, wiped her tears away and walked back inside. It took everything in me not to go outside; I didn't want them to know I was listening to their personal conversation.

I sat there for a few more minutes before I started to feel drowsy again, as I begun to stand up and move back into bed; Harry's front door flung open and was slammed as he walked out. I went closer to the window to get a better look at him; he looked angry, really angry. He was wearing a gray large jumper, a black beanie, black jeans, and his signature black and white converse on. He placed his skateboard on the floor and skated off; I rushed to the front door and opened it to call out his name but he was too far away. Instead I walked back inside and sat back down on the chair waiting for him to come back home; I  was scared he was going to do something stupid because he was angry, but in a nutshell I lasted a whole 10 minutes before falling back to sleep on the recliner chair.

I awoke to the bright sun beaming through the window, where I felt like I had just fallen asleep in front of. The breeze was now cold; I closed the window quietly and rubbed my eyes, then dragged myself into my room slowly and clicked on my phone to see the time 6:45AM, I let out a huff; it's too early for a Sunday. I put a jumper on over my singlet, left my bike shorts on and tied my hair up in a messy top bun, placed my Nike runners on and walked out the front door and sat on my large brick letter box, scrolling through Tumblr on my iPhone. To where I heard a familiar sound, Harry's skateboard rolling against the concrete, I looked up from my phone only to see him riding it towards his house. Although when he noticed me he stopped and got off his skateboard standing in front of his drive way; the silence was awkward so I politely waved.

"What are you doing awake this early?" he said from across the street loudly

"I couldn't sleep" I answered gently, being cautious of our other neighbors; I was also nervous because Harry had barely acknowledged me before ever, and I always felt something for him.

"Sorry what was that? I can't hear you when you whisper!" he spoke even louder than previously

"Shhh! We have neighbors!" I said annoyed, I stepped down off the mail box and started to head inside

"Wait" he said rushing over to my house, where he then stood before me. I had never really been this close to him; his nose was red from the cold and he had dark circles under his eyes; he looked exhausted.

"You didn't answer me; why are you up this early?" he asked. I starred at his mouth as he spoke and then back at his bright green eyes

"Uhm. I did answer you actually; I couldn't sleep. Your turn; why are you up?" I said placing my hands in my jumper pockets

"Never went to sleep" he answered adjusting his beanie and fixing his hair that flicked out on the sides, he looked so attractive even when he was tired; and here I am with no makeup, in old clothes and my hair a mess, I must look like a hobo.

"Why not" I asked rubbing my left eye from exhaustion

"I needed to get out" he said bluntly

"Oh ok, everything ok?" I asked knowing the answer

"Fine; I'm going to go. Bye" he said walking away. I stood there confused, and watched as he walked across the road and back into his house; he didn't look back. I stood there questioning what I had done. I headed inside, looked back one last time and then proceeded inside; still confused.
