It took longer than I thought to make my decision. Both of these guys were special to me.
Matty had a relaxed attitude. He was an instant remedy to my stress and listened when I needed him to. He was warm and soft and caring, a true gentleman.
George was tall and intimidating, a definite protector. He made me feel wanted. He made me want to risk it all and go on amazing adventures. He could be the spark that could reignite my life.
I brought the both of them back a week later when I made my decision. The tension was way worse than it was the last time I had both of them over. We were certainly running out of time, the fifteenth was fast approaching.
"You know why I've gathered you here today..." I chuckled to lighten the mood. It didn't work. Both of them just stared at me in the center of the room, blankly, ready to get on with it. "I've made my decision." I sighed.
I took the time to explain to them my concerns and they responded perfectly. They were not making this easy for me but I knew that whatever happened happened and there was no going back.
"I guess I have to go through with this." I mumbled to myself. "After a lot of thought, I've decided to go with...
MATTY:
...Matty." His name exploded out of my mouth. I just wanted it to be quick like ripping off a band aid. I couldn't bring myself to look at George.
"Oh." Matty smiled, perking up. "That's surprising." I blushed at the sight of his warm smile. It had been a while since I saw that genuine smile. It reminded me why I started going out with him in the first place.
"It's fine." George nodded, staring at the floor. "I shouldn't have expected anything. I'm the one who caused this mess." My heart broke for George but my decision stood.
"This needed to happen." I smiled over at him. "If not then it would've been awful on tour, especially for you." George lightly smiled before getting up and leaving.
"Give him time." Matty nodded at me, standing to meet me in the center of the room. He brought his hands around my waist and pulled me close. The butterflies were back and here to stay.
"He's strong. I know it." I happily breathed as Matty's lips softly touched the nape of my neck, his grip on me growing stronger.
"All that matters now is you're mine and we have all the time in the world..." His soft voice in my ear made my knees weak.
GEORGE:
...George." His name stuttered from my mouth. Matty's jaw dropped and I knew that I had made him angry.
"Why?" Matty asked simply. George looking around shocked and all smiles as if he had just won the lottery.
"I think that I wanted to date you because you were the known, you were comfortable. There was no guessing with you." I explained to my now ex-boyfriend. "I think George might be able to teach me to get me out of my comfort zone."
I looked over at my new love, he had his hand on his chin in deep thought, considering my sentence. I could tell he was already planning our first adventure.
"I see." Matty nodded. "Then if you'll excuse me." He stood. "I'll see you both on tour then." I was frozen in place, watching him walk out the door. For a second I wondered if I made the right decision.
"Come here." George opened his arms for me. "It'll all be fine." I smiled and approached him.
"I feel so bad." I muffled into his chest as I cuddled up to him. My heart never pounded so fast. I knew that George was exactly what I needed. "I hope I didn't jeopardize the band."
"You didn't." George assured me, wrapping his arms around my body as I brought my feet onto the couch. I inhaled, the sweet smell of his cologne was intoxicating. "But I can assure you that you are in for one hell of a ride." He kissed my forehead.
"I can only imagine." I brought myself up to his lips, one of his hands holding my chin in place as he delicately kissed me. One hell of a ride, indeed.
