Furious Kate waited to me when I came home after the meeting with Jack, and I could see a little hurt in her eyes. The most surprising part , except that she actually waited more than an hour for me to get back to the mansion, was that when I saw that, it actually made me little sad. Well, I may not know her, but I'm still pretty sure I don't want to hurt her.
"Where have you been?" she asked, her voice is quiet and fill with anger and concern.
I sighed and sat across of her near the wooden table.
"First of all, I'm really, truly sorry", I said quickly, "when I woke up, I've got a blackout and panicked, and the first thing I could think of is to go to the...hmm... the park", I lied, hoping she'll buy this piece of trash that came from my mouth.
Her expression softened immediately. She stood up and hugged me tightly. I loved the feeling of being in her embrace. It felt oddly familiar. "I should remember about your blackouts, I'm so sorry", she said gently.I smiled and went to the fridge, looking for something to eat and avoiding her eyes. I took my time, waiting for Kate to go out and leave me alone so I could do a little "research" around the huge mansion. Fun.
"I'm going to work now", she said, "you're teacher will come here in less than an half hour, so prepare all the stuff you need for the lessons. Hope you're made your homework this time."
Oh, so apparently I'm home schooling. Of course. It's not that I thought I'm going to some fancy expensive school with fancy kids. Oh god, apparently reading too many fantasy books about kids in expensive boarding schools can give you some illusions.
Not that I mind to get some illusions, they helped me to escape from the sucks life I had, and gave me the chance to hang out with amazing people in amazing places.
In fact, in most of the free time I had, I was in the library, reading as much as I can before I need to go to help mom or watch my young siblings.I stood up and sighed, turning the apple I took around in my hands. I sighed again, and went upstairs to prepare all the stuff, and myself, to this new life with the new people I never met, but apparently knew me very well.
. . . . . . .
I closed the door behind the teacher, who turned out to be young handsome man, and surprisingly funny.Compared to my expectations, I really had fun in the lessons, and I didn't even noticed how much time has passed before Mr. Smith glanced at his watch, smiled apologetically and said that are time is done for today and I'll see him tomorrow at the same time as always.
As soon as I saw him getting into his car and driving away, I ran upstairs. I entered my room and started the little search after some random clues that will somehow help me figure what happened in the month I can't remember, or how my life turned that way, from notes to photos or massages, or anything that I'll find important to me.
. . . . . . .
I have been searching for over an hour, with nothing.
I was about to give up, too tired and not even realizing that I haven't done with all my room, maybe less than a half, without the bathroom and the closet.Suddenly, I found something I thought could help a little.
It was a note, with address and password on it. It was near the wall under the big bed. The note was small, and maybe he was useless and couldn't help me at all, but it still gave me little hope. Maybe I will find out what happened, and maybe I'll even fix it. Maybe.
I smiled to myself and put the note in my phone case, hoping he wouldn't fall.
I called Jack's number, and waited. After few rings, he answered.
"Hello?" his voice was sleepy and I assumed I woke him up, but I didn't mind.
"Guess what, guess what, guess what!" I yelled in his ear, don't even bother to care that he just woke up, "I've found a clue. Well, I hope it's a clue and not something useless." Jack seemed suddenly fully awaken, "really? What it has on it?" "It's an address, and a password", I said, thinking that my reaction may have been a little way to exited for a little note, that could be nothing. Luckily, Jack seemed pretty exited from the news, almost as I was. "Well, we should go and find out the address' meaning. I'll pick you up today at.. hmmm, how about an hour from now? Then we'll see where it'll take us." "Okay, I guess it's a date", I smile and hung up. I'm going to find out everything.
I started to clean the room from the mess I've created, thinking about the places this address would take me and Jack.
I really hope we wouldn't find ourselves in a dark creepy ally with some gang with guns around us. Because that's the best thing that can happen. Nope.I continued clean the huge mess, waiting for Jack's text that will tell me our adventure has been started
