There was a flash. Then a bang. Then darkness.

I smell the ashes before I see them. I feel death before I see it. Slowly I open my eyes and the events of the bombings and before, rush before my eyes.

The party. The kiss. The explosion.

I try to get up but stumble back. Every bone in my body feels like it has been broken.

"Help!" I cry hoping to grab someone's attention "Somebody please help me! "

I hear a familiar male voice "Jayde? is that you?"

"Nile?" I say. I'd recognize that voice anywhere.

"Jayde where are you? " he calls.

"Over here" I cry.

Nile runs over to me and pulls me in his warm embrace. His clothes are torn and covered in ash. His usual beach blonde hair is covered in a layer of grey ash. I almost laugh when I see him. But I stop myself.

" I was so worried about you" he whispers in my ear.

"Me too " I manage to mumble.

"Nile, Jayde? Is that you?"

"Hazil!" Me and Nile said in unison.

We see her emerging from the smouldering ash. Her short light brown hair covered in the stuff. Her pink and yellow dress torn and covered in ash.

The three of share embraces. Happy that the three of us are alive. But the question remains. Who's dead? I try not to think about it. My family may be dead. Tears form in my eyes. No one questions them. I don't question theirs. Then something catches my eye. I turn to see three sheets of paper floating my way. I catch them.

"What's that?" asks Nile curiously. He and Hazil lean over my shoulder to see what it says.

They were three posters. Three names. Three faces. I can only help but stare at the one with my face. Nile realises only seconds before I do.

"We're criminals" said Nile.

A word enters my head.

Renegades

"We can't be. We haven't done anything wrong" said Hazil.

It's true that we haven't done anything wrong. But then I think of the bombing and how we are the only three alive...

"We were obviously set up" I mumble scrunching up the papers and throwing them as far as I can.

"There they are! Get them!" we here a voice. It doesn't sound like anyone I know.

"Run!" I scream.

We run until we reach the safety of the woods.

" I don't feel too good" saysHazil

"Me neither" I say.

That's when we hear the marching of many feet coming our way.

"Guys, the soldiers are coming"

With that we take off again.
