Now there is one major thing you must understand in all this, I may have one place where I am popular but it's not for my looks, it's for my ability to do my sport. That said I have like zero self-confidence in myself, I mean literally none. It was only around now that I had decided I needed to wear makeup and that maybe I did really like the colour of my eyes and my hair. Occasionally the freckles too. Unfortunately, I was unaware at this point that everyone hated something about themselves and it helped me coil deeper into myself.
Anyway it all started when I was out shopping with my friends from swimming. Charley, Cleo, Layla and I had gone to one of our local shopping centres on a day out to sort out the Secret Santa presents for the rest of our swimming squad. It makes it so much easier to buy for people when we are all together as we all know people differently and makes the presents better. Also we were doing the dreaded girly clothes shopping. I couldn't tell a fancy dress outfit from something that actually looks nice. They do all of the choosing for me.
So the details of the others. Cleo has olive skin, dark hair and the brightest green eyes. She's petite and the best breastroke swimmer I know. Her half-Italian family were bought up in the fashion industry so she can spot the latest trends from a mile away. Secondly is Layla has beautiful wavy ginger hair. Her tall skinny physique makes her the perfect freestyler. Her long willowy legs stretched for miles. Finally, was Charley. My beloved Charley. She had a slightly chubby but still slender physique. That makes her perfect as a butterfly swimmer. And then me, the tallest, like not tall but like lanky taller than everyone tall. I have naturally dead-straight brown hair that hangs around my face and the only things I find remotely pretty are my freckles that only appear in summer and that's because they hide my spots and my eyes. They are hazel and appear to change colour with my mood. Anyway I'm the backstroke swimmer of the group. It makes us a complete and perfect relay team which is how we all became close to start off with. We kept getting entered as a team and trained as a group so we learnt to work off each other and became the perfect team as we made a bond that was all to put in 100% or we will let the whole team down.
So we were in the dressing room when the lady came up to ask what we were going to keep and what we were going to lose. Suddenly these people from my school came in so I hid behind the curtain. Luckily Charley noticed and jumped in with me.
