Chapter 2

3 years later|July 12, 2001

At 6:30 morning on a Friday, loud singing -loud, off-tune singing- was heard from a 2-storey house in Hogsmeade Village. Its walls are painted with a shade between white and cream, borders coated with brown and roof colored with black. This is the known house of Hermione Granger.

She smothered chamomile liquid soap on her body and massaged her scalp with floral-scented shampoo. A Weird Sisters song was blasting from her radio and she screamed the lyrics along with the vocalists' with a smile on her face. She was in an effervescent mood but she didn't know why, though.

After drying and showering herself, she slipped on her white bathrobe and wrapped her head with a pink towel as she rummaged through her closet. She grabbed her usual two-inch heels and chose a cream collared long-sleeved blouse -a gift she received from Lavender- and paired it with a black pencil skirt, an outfit she usually didn't wear because she usually just went with her simple brown or black female slacks to work.

Hermione ate her breakfast and yoghurt, brushed her teeth, tamed her hair -which can now be finally fixed after years of getting teased for it-, dabbed lip balm on her lips, and after 60 minutes she stood beside her kitchen counter, ready to go to work.

She took her purse and wand, and left her humble abode with the use of Apparition.

-

Busy men and women surrounded her. Even though it was only morning, people were agitatedly rushing paper works before the deadline, sending reports and letters to the minister, or readying their selves for a taught hearing. For a year, Hermione Granger has been working in the Minister of Magic, as head of Department of Magical Accidents and Catastrophes, and being recorded as the youngest person to hold such high position. She looked around, and nothing seemed to destroy her effervescence yet.

On her way to her department, mutter of good mornings were sent to Hermione's way and she happily greeted back with a smile. She entered her office and saw Catherine, her assistant 2 years younger than her, stacking and sorting some papers. Hermione smiled, Catherine was her assistant from the beginning, and she considered the girl as a friend.

"Hello, Miss." Catherine acknowledged her boss with lips tugged upwards while following Hermione who's walking towards her desk. She placed a pile of papers on her table. "Just the normal accidents. But a letter was sent to you, Ms. Granger."

Hermione, who was fishing something from her bag, whipped her head to the direction of Catherine. "Letter? From whom?"

Catherine checked the envelope. "From a Mr. River Wilson and Ms. Luna Lovegood."

Hermione's brows shot up. Luna? She hasn't seen her younger friend for the last 4 months. And who is this River Wilson?

"Okay. Thank you, Catherine."

When Catherine left, Hermione took the peach-colored paper lying on top of her wooden table. Her fingers held it lightly as she examined the envelope. On the external part, the words;

To Ms. Hermione Jean Granger

Head of Department

Ministry of Magic

From Mr. River Wilson and Ms. Luna Lovegood

London, England

She unsealed the envelope and out came three pieces of papers, an invitation and the other one she recognized as a howler.

A wedding invitation and a suspicious howler.

Hermione analyzed the invitation first.

On the left side was a picture of her blonde ex-schoolmate wearing a dress that was made out of leaves -leaves?- a small smile was pasted on her face and she was holding hands with an unfamiliar brunette man.

The man was wearing a tuxedo but his tie was made out of leaves too, by the way.

The couple's -she no-nonsense assumed as their picture was on a wedding invitation, their wedding invitation- picture was captured in a forest with sunrays beaming through the tall trees.

She read the words on the right.

To Ms Hermione Jean Granger, you are invited to attend the wedding day of Bryan Rivers and Luna Lovegood which will be on;

Date: July 18, 2001 (Next week, Monday)

Time: The garden wedding will start on 3 in the afternoon to 4:30 in the afternoon. The reception (which will be held on the same place where the wedding will partake) meanwhile will begin on 5 in the early evening onwards.

Venue: Ivy's Garden (Direction are pasted at the back of this page)

After she read the invitation, Hermione had her eyebrows shot heavenwards. A nature-themed wedding invitation with the future bride wearing a dress made out of leaves. She amusedly thought. That was just so very... Luna.

Secondly, she didn't even know Luna had a boyfriend.

She took the second piece of paper and eyed it questionably.

Then she opened it and the envelope shot up in midair.

'Hello Hermione,' Luna's dreamy voice exclaimed. 'I wish you would go to our wedding. Especially since the venue's very nice,' there was a pause. 'We might even see some Blibbering Humdingers because of the location. Daddy says you could see it near leaves and plants, you know.'

'Well, Ginny thinks you haven't had enough time to rest and you stress yourself too much. Although I think it's because of Wrackspurts, see, those little creatures make your brain go fuzzy. Nevertheless, I booked a room in a hotel for you two -most especially you- to have a break from your work. You're going to stay there for one week.

Have a good day, Hermione and don't stress yourself too much.'
