Red lights flashed around my head. Sirens wailed. My hands moved through the soft grains of sand. i opened my eyes. The sky was bright blue white fluffy clouds, disguising whatever horror was going on. what had happened? i moved sitting up. I couldn't remberer anything, nothing at all. officers surrounded the little summer home.

Naomi! oh naomi! my sister cried shriking at the top of her lungs. Shes okay!! Shes okay!!! i turned my head immediatley coughing up water. i sat up looking straight ahead towards the shinning blue watered lake. Hearing a simple boys voice.

"Don't tell anybody!" I looked around trying to see where the voice was coming from. "Naomi the world can't know about us! Please promise, you'll never tell anybody!"

"I promise." i muttered out loud.

Katie sat next to me crying in a fit. "oh Naomi! your alright i thought i lost you too!" she sucked in air. "I thought i lost you too." i closed my eyes the sounds faded in the distance the lights went away the voice of people i never heard before, drifted away.

The bell rang i lifted my head. A chubby man stood with his arms crossed. Mr. Arnold my biology teacher. "Naomi, sleeping in class on the last day of school is not a good way to start off summer." he smiled.  i gathered all my books "Sorry Mr. Arnold".

"Have fun this summer, be safe, and get out of my class." he turned to walk away i wondered if he was kidding or not.

i walked out into the crowded hallway with kids i barley new. this summer was not going to be fun my father had been set on going to the same town, to the very same lake that my youngest brother Daniel had disappeared on three years ago. The lake my family broke apart on, and the only way my father could cope was bring us back together on that very lake. he was also set on tracking down and finding our lost member.

Time seemed to go slower as i walked towards the entrance kids all laughed and exchanged numbers for the year book. next year was my junior year and is till had only made two friends. fortunately my dad let me invite them to the lake for a week or two this summer. that would at least be fun.

Dad's famous bronco appeared no hood and seats sticking out of the back Katie my sister sat in the front seat.

"come on chicken butt! were waiting for you."  i ran and jumped into the big car my future car ryan punched my shoulder.

   "yellow car!"

"no fair!" i yelled back at him.

"oh boy" Katie sighed. "this will be a long drive"

Maybe it wouldn't be so bad. i had my family after all.

the drive was't bad we got to listen to my favorite, unfortunutley out-of-date bands, "The Doors, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and all the others of that generation. better than mozart to my own opinion. but the canoe ride was "sucking" badly.

Katie whimperd "What if the boat flips over?" ryan swayed the boat back and forth teasing her. "Stop! if we flip its all your fault!"

"calm down katie." ryan laughed. "its fun!"

"Calm down? This is not fun!" she whimperd. she might have been my sister, and i might loved her to death, but i wanted to smack her with my canoe paddle. "something just hit the boat!" she yelled "it tapped the boat!"

" Katie if you don't calm down your going to flip the boat over!" ryan said or the boat will flip over itself just to stop her whining i thought to myself.

There was a little splash next to the boat, me and ryan looked in the water.

"your tipping the boat over!" she screamed

i looked into the water  hoping to see an otter or a fish of some sort but there was nothing there. i looked closer reaching my hand out touching the water. thinking seeweed was stuck to the bottom of the boat. chills ran up my spine. sudden thoughts of something or someone grabbing my hand and bringnig me down echoed through my mind. i could imagine a hand coming up from under the boat ready to touch my hand too.

"Start. Rowing. Now Naomi." katie demonically growled at me, snapping me out of my fear.

"Geez Kate, why didn't you just drive with dad?" i asked.

"Because i had to watch you too!"

"no you didn't ryan." said retorically. it was very clear now dad didn't tell him what happend on this lake. or he was just smart enough to ignore it. and it was also very clear that my sister was afriad of being in the water or on a boat.

But soon enough our new summer home appeard on the lake behind the mysterous and rumored haunted island. and we got to the dock with a ruster motor boat attatched. dad and benny my older brother with charming good looks and aparentlly a great attutiude, sat talking about something they didn't want us to hear.

"alright." my dad stood up seeing us coming. "this is a five-bedroom two bathroom house. There are four bedrooms upstairs, and one downstairs. i get the master bedroom he roared. "now," he walked to the wooden creeky stairs. "fight for your rooms, first one to set foot in the room gets it."

katie took off running. i knew her reasoning for the room she wanted. downstairs quiet from the rest of us...  and hidden from dads upstairs room... the perfect sneak out room. katie was very pretty long reddish-brown hair, blue-ish green eyes she was shorter than me at nineteen while i was sixteen. she loved to party and were sure she even had a boyfriend but her curfew was the same as ours. so she had to find her ways to sneak out.

Ryan threw all of his stuff into the closet room towards the stairs and jumped into the bathroom. i walked to the next two rooms nigether of them i liked the room ryan accedentally chose had the biggest window of all of the rooms and the best view of the water. dad did say set foot in it first. my evil side showed as i threw ryans backpack out of the room and walked inclosing the door. the rooms theme color was yellow anyways ryan would not have enjoyed that he considered yellow a "girly" color.

a loud thud against against the door told me he had noticed. Naomi! that's not fair Naomi!

you snooze you loose i laughed at him and unzipped my backpack.

"naomi! naomi" his voice angrily whinned out to me shaking the door handle. i looked at the door. remembering a familiar feeling. "naomi" he called out. his voice younger. more innocent. different. "come on naomi its almost lunch!" i closed my eyes thinking hard. almost lunch where did that come from? my dad's booming voice sounded downstairs. waking me up from what just felt like a dream.
