I wake up to the early morning light streaming through my curtains. I slowly sit up, rubbing my eyes as they adjust to the brightness. It can't be very early, considering how bright it is outside, I think to myself. I must've slept in. A quick glance at the clock on my nightstand tells me it's 11:24 AM. I throw back the white covers of my king-sized bed as a slowly stand up. I make my way into the kitchen to get myself some coffee.
Once in the kitchen, I see my room-mate, Kaya Scodelario, up and about our penthouse apartment, located right in the middle of the Hollywood action.
"Hey Bailey, tired much?" Kaya asks in mocking disbelief.
"Oh, shut it," I snap back as I walk over to the coffee machine to find it empty.
"Kaya! Did you drink all the coffee?" I groan as I begin searching through the cabinets.
"Well, no. Actually, I turned the machine off when I woke up," she responds.
"What the hell, Kaya? You know very well how crabby I can be when I don't have my coffee!" I exclaim, slightly ticked off.
"Woah, Bai, chill. Would you like to give me a chance to explain? Or would you like me to be silent while you bite my head off for doing something kind for you?" she asks calmly. I'm slightly flustered.
"Alright, Kaya, go right ahead. Tell me why you turned the source of my energy off. It better be for a good reason," I respond, interested in hearing her response.
"The reason I turned your 'source of energy' off was because I know how late you stayed at Dylan's last night rehearsing and practicing for your audition, so I decided to surprise you this morning by running down to Starbucks and getting you your favorite coffee, a Strawberry Creme Mocha," she responds while simultaneously pulling out two coffees from the counter behind her.
I feel a tad ashamed at my behavior now.
"I'm sorry Kaya, I was at Dylan's until 3 AM last night and didn't actually get in bed until about 4 AM so I'm just a tired, crabby, 23 year old, hormonal mess right now. Thank you so much. I really appreciate it, and I'm sorry I just kinda snapped. I hope you can forgive me," I respond, being a tad over dramatic.
"Don't be stupid, Bailey. Of course I forgive you. We've all been there. Besides, I'm sure you're holding up a hell of a lot better than Dylan is right now," she responds, shaking her head mockingly.
I laugh a bit at the thought of how Dylan is actually holding up. He's such a drama queen. Dylan O'Brien, my best guy friend, and I are auditioning for a new movie, The Maze Runner. We stayed late at his house last night running through our audition lines so we can nail them. I'll be auditioning for Teresa, and Dylan will be auditioning for Thomas.
"I bet he's still sleeping," I laugh along with Kaya.
"Well, you better go get ready. You have to be at your audition in 2 hours. Oh, and you might want to hit up Dylan to make sure he's alive," she rolls her eyes.
I just laugh, grabbing my coffee and making my way back up the stairs to my room.
