"elle, your father and i are sending you to group therapy."
now normally i would have laughed in my mom's face, but the stone cold look my father wore mixed with the tears pooling in my mother's eyes was enough to tell me that they were serious this time. naturally, my first instinct was to question their utterly stupid decision, but a glare from jacob, my father, stopped me in my tracks.
"we are just so worried about you darling, we know that you said you were better bu-"
"i am better mother" i spat, "i'm back on the cheer squad, i'm eating well, and dr. what's-his-face cleared me months ago. you're just making something out of nothing."
"eloise, enough!" at the sound of my father's booming voice my mouth snapped shut. i knew better than to argue with him when he'd made up his mind. "your sessions start thursday after school."
with those parting words my father turned on his heel and walked out of my room and into his office, my mother however stayed for a moment longer and looked at me in a way she hadn't for months. "i know this year has been difficult for you baby, but we just want to make sure that you aren't pushing yourself too hard. that's what emily would want too you know."
i licked my lips and hoarsely started "what emily would want" i stood up and faced my mother, " is to be alive, and it's my fault that she isn't".
