Right after my accident, I just wanted to go home. There was still an hour left in school and I did not want to wait around for Amanda to give me a ride. Luckily for me, Jayden was still hanging around outside the nurse's office when I came out. The first thing he did was pull me into a big hug, I was quite surprised but then I found myself hugging him back. I could smell his cologne again and took a deep breath of the sweet smell.

"Are you smelling me?" Jayden laughed and looked down at me.

"No." I blushed and looked away thinking, dammit. "Why would I smell you, you're still in your stinky gym clothes?" I gave him a flirtatious smile and then instantly erased it from my face. Why was I doing this to myself? That's just fuel for the fire. "Can you do me a favor?" I asked politely.

"What do you need?" I don't think I had ever heard somebody sound so sincere.

"A ride home? I don't want to wait around for an hour." The longer I stood, the weaker I was feeling. My head felt heavy on my shoulders and I desperately wanted to lie down and maybe take a nap. Jayden nodded, and we headed to the gym to change. After ten minutes of reassuring the gym teachers that I was all right, and that Jayden received permission to take me home we were pulling out of the school parking lot.

The ride was mostly quiet, but it wasn't awkward thank God. Jayden's SUV was roomy and with the air conditioner blowing I was feeling much better. It also helped that I was sitting down now. I noticed that he kept shooting nervous glances at me as if he was worried I was about to pass out from too much blood loss. Mrs. Forai reassured me that I hadn't lost enough blood to do any damage; I also did not have a concussion. Never the less I liked that Jayden was concerned.

He was definitely proving to me that he cared about more than just himself. Over the week, I learned a lot about him and realized that I may have misjudged. I'm not saying that he isn't a player because he is. But maybe it won't stay that way; Maybe he does have the ability to care about other people and commit to somebody. He just needs to find that right somebody.

As we pulled up to my house, I regretted the fact that I was now home. Even though we hadn't been speaking, I enjoyed having Jayden there with me. It was comforting, wow, I never thought I would say that in a million years. I pretended to dig around in my purse for my keys, waiting for him to say something to me.

"Are you sure you're okay, Delanie?" He placed a hand on my leg and it surprised me that I didn't have the urge to smack it away.

"Yeah, I'm just light-headed is all. I should be fine." I snatched my keys from my purse and smiled up at him. "Thanks for the ride and well everything else." Was it bad that I wanted to tell him how nice it felt being in his strong arms when he carried me to the nurse? Yes, terrible idea. Before I said anything stupid, I opened the car door and hopped out.

"Delanie!" Jayden called as I walked up the driveway. I looked back and saw him getting out of the car. "Do you maybe want some com..."

"Yes." I blurted out before he could finish his sentence. He grinned at me and I blushed back.

A half an hour later I was curled up on the couch with Jayden bustling around in my kitchen making me 'something'. After making one small comment about being hungry, Jayden turned into Chef Breeze and insisted he make me something. I could smell bacon and my mouth instantly began to water as my stomach grumbled loudly. Jayden made me stay sitting in the living room because I apparently needed to rest. I couldn't agree more. As hungry as I was, I was even more tired.

A plate descended over my head and stopped right in front of my face. A large bacon, egg, tomato and lettuce sandwich sat on the plate still steaming. My mouth watered as I thanked Jayden repeatedly and I scarfed it down. I finished my entire sandwich before Jayden finished half of his. Apparently losing blood makes you hungry.
