Chapter 4 - Tessa's POV

I got ready for my dinner date with Liam, he texted me earlier and told me to wear a comfortable yet fancy dress.

Texting him back, I replied with an "okay (:" and hurried to finish my hair. I styled it with simple beach waves and used a bit of hairspray to bump the back a little. Makeup time!

Listening to my favorite One Direction song, I Would, my eyes fell on the wedding announcement for me and Dylan, him carrying me bridal style while I planted a soft kiss on his cheek. A tear fell on to the glass of the front of my iPhone. It was a good thing I hadn't started my mascara.

Wiping my cheeks and the front of my phone, I softly but quickly slide the mascara brush up and down on my long lashes and apply some nude lip gloss.

I was ready. I looked out the window, seeing the pouring rain and getting a quick whiff of the scent when I open it a little. Leaving it open just a little, I put on my coat and slip on my black heels. I grab my little clutch purse and insert my phone and car keys, just in case. I take the umbrella by the front door and lock it on my way out.

Liam texted me after I locked the door. "meet me at Starbucks on the corner of 5th and main." Perfect. That was only a block away. I walk, holding the umbrella a little over my head, enjoying the scent of the rain and the sound of it hitting the cold hard ground.

I look behind me instinctively. I see a tall man in a black coat walking directly and closely behind me. I begin to walk faster, him following my pace and getting closer and closer.

I was almost there. If only he wasn't so close I could get Liam's help.

Pretty soon, I feel gloved hands cover my eyes and my mouth. I drop my umbrella while being dragged away, feeling my coat being ripped off of me. I take off my heels as fast as I can with my feet and kick him hard in the groin. He jumps on top of me, knocking me to the ground.

Jumping up with all of the strength I have, he copies my move and pulls back his fist, giving all he's got into forcing his fist into my left eye. Seeing with only one eye, I instinctively take a swing, protecting myself. My fist lands on the jawline of my emerging enemy, as he's knocked down to the ground. I grab a fistful of my coat's fabric my heels, and my purse, forgetting the umbrella and running all the way to the Starbucks, and leaving the stranger on the sidewalk with a bloody jaw.

I round the corner and run into Liam. I immediately start balling and give him a forceful hug, startling him. "Liam! I am so glad to see you!"

"Tessa! Wh-what happened? Your eye!" He asked, worried. I look at him in the eyes and just cry, the mascara in my eyes and falling down my cheeks.

"This m-man was following m-me, and h-he tried t-to kidnap m-me, Liam!" I sob as I give Liam another forceful hug.

He holds my hand as we walk inside the inviting yet vacant restaurant. "What's with... this?" He gestures to my black and blue eye as he purchases 2 caramel mocha's.

"Wha-? Oh, he punched me when I kicked him in the soft spot..." I look at Liam as he hands me the drink.

"I'm sorry this happened to you." He says. He gives me another inviting hug and I sigh into his jacket coat. He gestures to a nearby booth and we sit.

"It's okay. I'm alright." My voice is drained, my hair is dripping wet, along with the rest of my body, and I'm tired. I was not okay or alright.

Thank goodness Liam could sense that. "No, you're not. We'll go to your flat and get you cleaned up then we can have a lazy night-in."

"Sounds good." We stand up from the booth and make our way back to my flat, his arm wrapped protectively around my waist.

When we get to my flat, all the lights are on and my bedroom window is all the way open. Liam and I throw away our empty drink bottles and carefully enter my warm house.

"Hello?" I ask suspiciously. "Who's there?" I set my heels and purse on the counter.

Liam rushes into my bedroom to find the same stranger that tried to kidnap me going through my drawers. "Hey, get out!" He walks over to the man and pushes him back out of the window.

But the man doesn't go down without a fight, I learned that. He pushes back and Liam falls down, knocking over my bedside table. I gasp, hoping he was okay. He lays there, cold and with a bloody head on the floor of my bedroom.
