Okay. Don't lose hope. -JC 4eva
I put down my phone after seeing her reply. It had been a month since I posted that video. And I don't know why, but I had had a feeling that this was supposed to be it. This was the best video until now. I had gotten a million likes and was now close to 2million subscribers.
Of course I was nothing special. Superwoman had like 7 million followers. Compared to that I was a wallflower. I guess my hopes were too big.
*sighs* I plopped on my beanbag and turned on the TV to watch Big Bang Theory reruns. It was such a great show."Kate, I'm home."
My mom had finally come. She had been gone for the weekend for a lawyer meeting. She had told me about the case she had been working on before she had left. It was a murder mystery. She had scolded me for looking so excited. After all, a man had died.It was a cold, quiet night. No vehicles were visible on the road. An old lady, taking her evening walk was walking down the street. Suddenly she heard someone running. The sound was getting closer. The old lady, scared, looked behind to see a pretty handsome young man in a black hoodie sun past her. As she brushed past her, his wet hands touched her small bag. As she touched her bag to dry it, she realised, it was not something wet. It was blood.
In fright she began running (or at least tried to) in the direction from which the nodded guy had come. In a dark alley, behind the dumpster, the old lady found his body, now lifeless. With blood dripping from his chest where he had been stabbed, the knife still in the wound.Well it sure did give me shivers. It was like an Agatha Christie novel. My mother had hit me lightly on the head for making that remark.
"Hey mom, how did the mystery conference go?"
I asked her as I walked down the stairs to greet her."It wasn't a mystery conference. It was a lawyer meeting where I had a talk with our possible culprit. And I'm glad to see that you haven't crashed the place down."
Sheesh. Mothers. It's a wonder how she changed the topic from a murder mystery to me crashing the place.
"That was one time ma. And I did clean up after that."
"The chandelier was on the floor and there was cheese sause dripping from the counter. I didn't even ask why I found pancakes on the ceiling."
"One freaking time."
I murmured quietly. She was never gonna let it go."So was the culprit guilty or not?" I tried to change the topic.
"Well.."
My mom gave me the 'I know you're trying the change the topic. I'm not and idiot.' look.
"I'm still trying to figure that out. I've questioned the culprit thoroughly, I've visited the place of murder. I've questioned all the possible witnesses and suspects - ""Wow. So basically you're Sherlock Holmes."
My mom laughed."Well I guess you could say that. Although he's much better."
"Oh pish posh. You've solved like 10 murder mysteries ma. There's a reason you're considered one of the best lawyers in Manhattan."
"Stop flattering me and make us some dinner. I'm hungry."
I rolled my eyes at my mom's childishness. She was only 18 years older than me, which proved that she had had me when she was very young. She met my dad at a college party and things escalated from there. She didn't want to abort baby me so she kept the baby. Her parents, my grandparents, weren't happy with the decision but things changed after I was born. They accepted me and my dad lovingly.
Unfortunately my dad died due to brain tumor 2 years ago.
Mom had a hard time moving on but she finally started dating one of her colleagues.
