It was just before sunrise and I woke with a start.Glancing around I let out a whisper of a sigh, trying to calm my rapidly beating heart. It was only a dream, I tell myself, though it felt all to real. Those black cloaks shielding their bodies, their red eyes mocking my screams...dreams always did....
I stretched out my arms, pushing my stiff body up of the stone earth not bothering to change. There was no need to, I always slept in my normal outfit of navy-blue spagetti-strap-tank-top that reached down just above my belly-button, a pair of black-cotton, low cut spandex pants with one leg cut off just below the knee.Along with my Shinobi-ish shoes, and, you guessed it, fishnets covering from my bare shin, down to the tips of my toes.Down both shoulders, stopping at the elbow, then starting again after my elbows down to my rwrists.Sort of plain, but it was what I could afford at the moment.I'm thankfull I can even manage to scrape together enough money for food, let alone clothing being who I am.
"Mistress! Are you awake yet?"Turning my head, I saw Reika, flicking her tail back and forth.Yes, I did just say tail. You see, Reika is a tiger.A golden tabby tiger to be exact.
A smile mades its way to my lips, before quickly turning into a frown."I'm awake, but where'd you go?You didn't...Did you?"The she-tiger gave me a soft smile.
"No, I just had to go make sure nobody was on our trail."She purred, sitting down a few feet from where I was stood, washing her muzzle."Then, I saw this yummy looking bird and...."She trailed off shyly, cleaning her chest.
I rolled my eyes,"Uh-huh, and where's mine?"I smiled, earing a guilty smile back.
"I, um...I..ammfted mft...."
I frowned."Huh?
"I amfted mft...."She murmured this time only a tiny bit little louder.
"You what?Look, I maybe a bit of a loon, but I have yet to understand your gimberish."I sighed, getting a little fed up with this game.
She sighed, her soft blue eyes meeting my own."I ATE IT!"I couldn't help but laugh at my best friend.
"Really? That's all?Your such a-"My tiger-ears twitched up ontop of my head, and I froze, trying to listen.Nobody should've found us yet even if we were actually in Iwagakure, let alone an abandoned village MILES away from the Hidden Stone Village.Keyword being: SHOULD'VE.
"A what?"Reika wondered, not catching on.Maybe I was just hearing things, but I swear Icloud just barely hear their words bouncing off the rock walls.
I shook my head, my green eyes meeting her ivory-blue."Did you hear that?"I asked in a little more than a whisper, brushing off our previous conversation. If it were really hunters then we needed to take percautions, leaving this place quietly, no more quiet than quiet.
Again, I heard the voices, feeling the hairs on the back of my neck bristle. They're close.
"What do you mean...?"Reika asked slowly,"Mizu, are you sure you're feeling alright?I don't hear anything?"Was this some kind of joke?
"Yes, I feel fine, but I won't if we don't get moving!Do you really want to die today, Rei-sama?!You know what they'll do if they catch up to us, if you haven't noticed you're sort of a talking tiger, and I'm a cat-girl!To them we're M-O-N-S-T-E-R-S.MONSTERS.They'd kill us, and disect us like frogs, Reika!"I yelled, quickly crouching down, and swinging my backpack over my shoulder.Reika just started blankly at me, watching me as I went around our make-shift campsite trying to make it look like we were never here."You coming?"I called softly over my shoulder once everything was in my bag.The voices were getting closer, echoing loudly off the stone walls. How could she not hear them?!
