Alex had been at the orphanage for a week slowly giving up hope that any one was coming. Days merged and he lost track of how long he had been there. He just lay on his bed for days without eating or drinking any thing and he never talked. People started to worry then out of nowhere came a knock on his bedroom door. He didn't move he felt dead but all of a sudden he felt this sudden feeling to go to the door he didn't know why. So he pushed his body up and stumbled to the door in his pitch black room. But when he finally reached the door he was scared to open it so he sat on the floor in the darkness of his room. Then all of a sudden light flooded in from under the door.when he looked under the door he saw two black white tipped shoes with red laces. For some reason this made him feel warm and fuzzy all over. So got up the nerve stood up griped the metal handle of his door and for the first time since he had been there he opened the door of his room.
