Lucy never usually eat breakfast anyway but today she was particularly put off. It was 5:30 am and she couldn't pace her bedroom any longer, she had to get out! She pulled her favourite denim jacket on over her and shivered she didn't shiver because she was cold she shivered because she was scared she had been scared before but never like this not even when she went on the highest roller coaster or when she lost her mom in Disney land, that moment Lucy decided this was most scared she has been. The crisp Seattle air hit her face as she walked out the door and up the street. Lucy starred up at the towering buildings she'd known all her life and suddenly felt trapped, it was all getting to her the cold the buildings the sleep deprivation, for a second she wished she had her best friend Katie with her for this. Maybe that would make it easier. Or maybe not, Katie tends to panic in a crisis and Lucy didn't need that today.
The drug stores were so quiet compared to the rest of the city. Lucy
didn't head straight for the aisle she needed she decided it would be best if she pretended to browse first. At least there was a 24 hour drugstore in her neighbourhood otherwise she wouldn't have been able to swing this little trip, well at least with out Katie noticing anyway. Lucy slowly head over to the aisle she thought she'd never have to face her eyes scanned the shelved until they fell upon what seemed like thousands of pregnancy tests. Lucy couldn't help but feel like she was being mocked because right next to the tests were condoms. She couldn't decide wether it was a warning or funny but she didn't find it very funny. Then she remembered what she came in for and she had to swallow back the tears. Lucy being only 14 wasn't that educated in pregnancy brands so she picked the cheapest three of the shelf, three because she wanted to be sure and she only planned on taking this shopping trip once. Now came the part she hadn't remotely thought about, where she was gonna take the test, she couldn't go home in case her mom was there and she obviously couldn't go to Katies . Her face flushed as she realised she was going to have to use the store bathroom. Not to mention she hadn't had a drink since last night and didn't need to pee.
She slowly made her way to the check out trying to build up confidence, she placed her tests on the counter along with a ten pound note the cashier took it and gave her the change, Lucy grabbed the test and slipped in the bathroom. It was small with dusty Windows and rusty pipes but Lucy wasn't paying attentions to those details she ripped open the boxes did her thing then then waited. While she waited she kept thinking how she should have done this with Katie but then she remembered she preferred to be alone in rough times.
Two pink lines stared at Lucy Clear as day, she sunk to the ground and covered her mouth tho muffle the sobs. What was she thinking how could she be so stupid, how would she tell her parents? her best friend? Lucy stood up she had to keep pushing forward or she would have stayed on that bathroom floor all day.
All the thoughts of Katie and her parent's were pushed away. What was he going to say?
