"Josh, get away from me!" Emily yelled, pushing him away.
"Wanna see what happens when you push me again?"
Emily took a step back, feeling dumb for even saying and doing anything. She knew Josh could hurt her in so many unforgettable ways. Josh was the kind of guy every girl would want to date because he's extremely handsome, young, around Emily's age, has the simple short, brunette hairstyle, is very fit, and has the perfect smile. No girl could ever resist a guy like him.
He took another sip of his beer and once he realized it was empty, he smashed the bottle onto the ground. Emily jumped at the sound of the shattering bottle. Josh walked over to her and put his hands on her waist, sliding them down.
"Josh stop, you're drunk," she tried removing his hands away from her but he wouldn't budge.
"Yeah, So what?" he kissed her cheek, moving down to her neck.
"Stop it, Josh!"
His touch was getting stronger, making her uncomfortable. Emily pushed him away again and that made him angry.
"I told you to not push me again!" he slapped her across the face, causing her to fall.
She was afraid to get up because she thought he would hit her again, but instead, he pulled her up and kept hitting her, leaving red marks everywhere. She held back her tears as the pain took over her body.
Emily put her hands up trying to guard herself, "Josh, please. I promise I won't do it again."
He stopped, "You better not, or there will be bigger consequences."
And with that, Emily understood. She didn't want to be messing around with him anymore. All she really wanted was to be in her best friend, Agent Jennifer Jareau's arms. She's always loved her, and that's something she never knew and she still doesn't. She always made her feel safe, no matter how she felt. And just like one of her friends, Agent Derek Morgan, she's always there for her when she needs someone.
Leaving Josh drinking away in the kitchen, Emily went to the bathroom to see the marks that were mostly left on her face. She wasn't surprised about them, this isn't the first time she's gotten hit and she knows this isn't the last. The best thing she could think of to hide the marks on her face was to cover them up with makeup, so she tested it to see if it would work. It helped a lot but some bruises still showed.
"Oh well," she said to herself, "hopefully no one will notice it."
Not only is Emily terrified of Josh, but she regrets the day they ever met. Before things got serious between them, he was a very charming and nice guy. But then, things changed, Emily got to see who he really was inside.
It was almost 10:30 pm, so she decided it was time to go to bed. The best part about it getting late was that Josh finally goes back to his own house. She admires the fact that he doesn't live with her because it would be worse than the nightmare that's been going on for years.
Emily slipped on her most comfortable PJs and crawled into bed, still feeling the pain that Josh caused while she moved around. She began to cry knowing that she can't leave him because if she does, Josh would make her life worse than it already is.
The next morning, Emily woke up from the sound of her door slamming. Frightened, she grabbed her gun that was hidden in her nightstand next to her bed and searched the apartment. She followed the hallway leading to the kitchen and there stood Josh eating a leftover sandwich as he leaned against the counter. She almost pulled the trigger, not knowing it was him at first.
"Josh, I almost shot you!" Emily said pulling her gun down.
"This sandwich tastes like fridge," not seeming to be bothered that Emily had a gun in her hand, he threw the sandwich down on the floor and went through the fridge again.
"Why are you here at 7:00 in the morning?"
"Because I can be?"
"Please leave, I would like to get more sleep."
"Emily, I can be here whenever I want. I don't go by your rules, you go by mine, and if you don't listen to me, there will be problems."
Emily was silent, she didn't talk the whole time he was there because she didn't want to be in whatever those problems were. She watched him while he made a mess in her apartment. He then left complaining about how she didn't have any food to eat. Emily worked hard on her hands and knees cleaning the floors and picking up the garbage left from Josh for part of the day.
"What a bastard," she whipsered to herself, rolling her eyes.
As she was cleaning, she got a text from J.J.
It read:
Hey, Penelope and I were wondering if you wanted to go out tonight around 8-8:30 pm. We were thinking about going to the bar downtown. Let me know if you can make it. Xoxo
Emily thought it was a good idea to just get out of the house and have some fun, but what about Josh? What is he going to do once he finds out that Emily isn't home?
