Emily practically carried JJ's half-naked body up the stairs because she was too weak to even hold herself up.

"Do you think you can make it on your own?" Emily asked her.

"I don't know, but I'll try."

The brunette let go of her once they reached the front door. JJ lost her balance again, but Emily caught her. She nodded like she was telling Emily a message that's she's fine and she can learn to balance herself.

"If you cant get help, you have to keep running, don't give up and don't come back because I don't want to see you get hurt again."

"Please come with me. I don't want to leave you alone with him."

"I can't, it's best if I just stay," she placed her hand on JJ's shoulder.

"But he won't get to us! Come on, Em."

"He'll still be able to find us. He may be a jerk and all but he's smart and he mainly wants to hurt you and I don't want to see you suffer."

"He's going to take all of his anger out on you and it's going to turn out like that time with Doyle."

"Jayje, I was alive and you knew that."

"I was still worried! I'm lucky to still have you, but I just don't want you to get hurt again."

"Don't worry about me, worry about yourself right now."

JJ hugged her tight, tighter than she's ever hugged her or anyone. It was unexpected for Emily, but she took the time to enjoy this moment and hugged her back.

"You know I love you, right?" Emily asked, caressing the back of JJ's head.

"Of course I do, and I love you too."

Emily pulled away from her, "You should get going before Josh comes back. If we don't see each other again, remember, I'll always be in here," she smiled, pointing at JJ's heart.

JJ commenced out the door, looking back at her best friend who she may not ever see again. She made her way to multiple houses, trying to get help. Emily, on the other hand, walked around in the living room, waiting for Josh to come home. She wondered how long it would take him to figure out that JJ was gone. Emily knew that once he found out, he would possibly beat her until she turned out dead, but she also knew that JJ would be safe. Butterflies were fluttering around in the pit of her stomach because she was so terrified, but then again, she's doing this to protect JJ.

Later on, Josh came back home with a plastic bag dangling in his hand. Emily heard the door knob turn and that's when she was even more terrifed. He came in, walking to where Emily was. The furious look on his face made her back up in fear, but he just came closer and closer.

"You have a lot of guts for what you did!" He screamed.

"What do you mean?" She was puzzled, not understanding what Josh was even talking about. Did he know that Emily let JJ go?

"I know you let JJ escape!"

Emily was at loss for words. She didn't expect him to figure it out so fast, "Uh, how do you know?"

"I set up a home monitoring system in the house. The cameras and everything were already in it so I decided to set it up again just in case you guys tried escaping, and you let her go! You're so stupid, you really thought you could get away with it!" He threw his hand up in the air, "I can't believe you! The woman who was trying to get in between us and you let her go!"

"Josh, I'm sorry, but I couldn't bare to see her like that. I never imagined this to happen to her and it was just a terrible sight to see her suffer."

"Sorry doesn't cut it," He let go off the plastic bag and threw Emily up against the wall.

"Wait! We still have each other, don't we?" She said, hoping that he'll stop.

"I'm done with you, Emily! Might as well kill you now because I don't need you anymore!" Angrily, he struck her across the face.

She felt where he had just hit her and looked back at him again, "What made you into the kind of person you are?" She softly spoke.

"I've always been this way," he said, still holding her in a clutch.

"You never acted this way when we first met, I don't understand what triggered you to be like this!"

"It's who I am, Emily. You've dealt with my behavior for a year!"

"That was only because I was afraid of you, and I still am!" Her eyes began to weld up with tears, "Please let me go, you're hurting me."

"Why should I care if I'm hurting you or not?! You're just a stupid bitch!" Josh bent down, still holding Emily to the wall, and pulled out a whip from the plastic bag.

At the first glimpse of the whip, she struggled to get out of his grasp. It gave her flashbacks to that horrific night when he lashed her so many times. He saw the fear in her eyes, and he loved it. He couldn't wait until he got to do it again and again because he was going to make sure that Emily was staying with him. It was going to be like a routine. Every other night, or maybe even every night, this was going to happen. An evil grin emerged on his face, loving the way she flinched at the sight of the whip.

"Isn't it neat? I found it today while I was looking for stuff," he let her go only to show off his "amazing" whip.

She rubbed where he held her, "Don't do this..."

"If you just cooperate with me this time, then I won't go on a hunt for your girlfriend."

The thought of him telling her JJ was her girlfriend sent shivers down her spine. Of course she loved JJ, but she never thought of loving her like she was her girlfriend, no matter how much she wanted to be with JJ. It made her feel on edge.

She tried to ignore the last word he said and got back on track, "How are you going to find her?"

"With your help."

"But I don't even know where she ran off to."

"I know you're lying to protect her. Anyways, go get ready and I'll be with you in a little bit," he winked, leaving the room.

Emily regretted not going with JJ. She didn't know that Josh was planning on spending his whole life sexually assaulting her. Possibly every night she's going to have to relive that night. Emily only hoped JJ got help to save her and herself. For now, she's going to have to deal with what Josh does to her, unless she can figure out a way to leave him.
