Chapter Two
As I walked, holding my protective, star-shaped, medallion in my hand, I took in the view of the society I’d never seen up close. I was too lost in thought to realize the absence of buildings and homes as I walked further and further. Soon, there was nothing left but the empty barren desert. If I looked hard enough, I could spot the massive building that held the horrid and cruel Shadows. I thought I saw a large dark figure in the distance… “No.” I whispered. I turned to run but I was blocked. The Shadow was right in front of me, I screamed and turned back around and ran faster than I had in my entire life. Just then, The Prophet and his army appeared, “Come on,” The Prophet spoke, holding out his hand, “we have to go. Now.” I took it and we ran, but The Destroyer (a.k.a. C.C.) stayed behind. I looked behind me to watch him punch the dry, cracked ground, yet again, causing a plume of dust and a wide fracture in the Earth, separating us from The Shadows.
Once we got to shelter, we rested and caught out breath. After a while, The Prophet spoke to me, “what were you doing out there? You could have gotten hurt, among other things.” He muttered that last part. As usual, I was quick to defend myself, “I wanted to see more. I was tired of being cooped up all the time. Besides, who are you to be scolding me?” I barked. He frowned as he looked around, as did I. It was then I realized that some of the Ones that had wondered out ended up here. We all thought they were dead, but here they were here. The Prophet snapped me out of my thoughts, “well, since none of us can get out of here safely, we are family.” He told me. I’d noticed that we were around the same age, and he wasw really good looking.
I refocused my thoughts again, but not before I saw how he looked at me. He redirected his gaze, “we all protect each other. We’re a team. We fight, we stand, and we never, ever, give in.” I got serious. Maybe we could beat The Shadows and overtake F.E.A.R and be in control of our land again, “what’s that plan?”
The Prophet nodded in approval and we got to work.
