Sierra's POV
I heard the four talking, and crunching glass, and then, I saw Mr. Beaver again. He could help. Still in bird form, I went right outside the door, and did the obvious thing."Pssst!" They turned, and stared at me. The black haired girl looked shocked as they came out.
"Did that bird just 'pssst' us?" Then, Mr. Beaver came out of the trees, slowly getting closer and closer. The blond haired boy made clicking noises, and held his hand out.
"Here boy. Here boy." I landed in a tree, and changed back to human form, watching with an amused expression in to face. This was going to be good."I ain't gonna smell it, if that's what you want!" He pronounced, and I laughed quietly. The youngest girl giggled, and the younger boy rolled his eyes.
"S....Sorry." The blonde boy stuttered, moving back as the girl kept giggling.
"Lucy Pevensie?" The brown haired girl stepped forward, her face making slightly taking the handkerchief Mr. Beaver offered.
"But....I gave this hankie to-" I decided to butt in, because I knew they were the ones.
"Mr. Tumnus. He gave it to us just before the wolves got him." I said, changing to a very large mouse, and scurrying down the tree.
"Come on. I'll explain, but we need to go somewhere safe to talk." Mr. Beaver nodded, leading the five of us to his dam. Then, we heard Mrs. Beaver.
"Beaver? Is that you? I've been worried sick! If I find you've been at Badger's again I'll-" She stopped when she saw us.
"Oh my. Well, those aren't badgers." She turned to Mr. Beaver.
"Look at my fur! You couldn't have given me ten minutes warning?" He chuckled.
"Id've given you a week of I thought it would help!" She turned to the five of us.
"Come inside. We'll get you tea and some civilized company." We went in, and the black haired boy stopped to look at the two hill. Her palace was right between those hills.
"Enjoying the view?" I asked, quietly. He shook his head, going in, and I followed, my heart sinking. I could tell what was going on with him. I slipped onto the stairs, and changed back to human, then went to the table. He"Who're you? I didn't see you come in." His sister smacked him.
"Peter! Don't be rude!" I chuckled.
"He's not. You actually did see me come in, just not like this. I'm Sierra. And I don't know who you all are, either." Peter chuckled.
"I'm Peter. The one that just smacked me is Susan, the one on the steps is Edmund, and she's Lucy." I smiled.
"It's wonderful to finally meet you. We've been waiting for so long, I can't believe you're finally here." They looked at one another, and then back at me.
"Waiting for us? Why?" Mr. Beaver looked shocked.
"You don't know? You don't know about Aslan's prophecies?" They looked stunned.
"Who's Aslan?" Peter asked. Mr. Beaver started laughing, then saw the looks on their faces. Then I rolled my eyes, and explained.
"Aslan is the one true King of the whole wood. He's waiting at the Stone Table for you. See, the first prophecy....how did that go again? Oh, yes." I cleared my throat, and recited it."When Adam's flesh and Adam's bone, Sits at Cair Paravel in throne, led by the warrior, whom Aslan sent, The evil time will be over and done." I took a sip of tea before continuing.
"There's another. Wrong will be right, when Aslan comes in sight. At the sound of his roar, sorrows will be no more. When he bares his teeth, winter meets its death. And when he shakes his mane, we shall have spring again." They all looked awestruck, and Peter spoke up."So, exactly how long has this winter been here, and how are we supposed to help stop this?" I smile sadly.
"It's been winter here for one hundred years. It was the middle of summer when she did it. The dryads were in bloom, the fauns were dancing, everything was beautiful. Then, it started to snow, and it hasn't stopped for a hundred years. You four, you're the ones from the prophecy. You all are the sons and daughters of Adam and Eve that will help defeat the White Witch. Don't tell me it's not you, because I'm a fair bit older than you, and I know what I'm talking about." Peter was even more shocked by now and Susan just looked terrified."Mum sent us here so we wouldn't get caught up in a war! We can't do this!" Susan said, and I growled under my breath.
"Look, I know it's you! I haven't been running around since the Dawn of Time, waiting for humans to arrive, just so that when you do come, I can't do what I'm supposed to. You have to help us!" Lucy stared at me, eyes wide.
"You- you've been here since the dawn of time? How?" I brushed away the tears that threatened to spill over.
"I was six years old when it happened. I was learning the Ballad of Narnia, when Jadis struck. She turned my parents to stone, and smashed the statues. Aslan made me his daughter after that happened." Peter looked like he wanted to cry, and then Susan stood.
"Look, Sierra, I'm sorry we can't help. Thank you for your hospitality, but we really must be going." Mr. Beaver spluttered, stunned.
"But you can't just leave!" Lucy was nearly in tears.
"He's right. What about Mr. Tumnus?" Susan took her hand.
"I'm sorry Lucy, but it's out of our hands now. We'd best be going. Ed, come on. Ed?" We looked at the stairs, and I saw the door slightly open. I turned to Lucy, a new fire in my veins.
"Has Edmund ever been to Narnia before now?" She nodded, and I took off like a shot, the other three and Mr. Beaver on my heels. My suspicion was right. I just hoped we could be fast enough.Peter's POV
We followed Sierra through the woods, and finally came to a cliff, where we saw a beautiful palace, all made of ice. From where we were, we saw a tiny black dot enter, and the doors slammed shut."Edmund!" Lucy screamed, and Sierra clamped a hand over her mouth.
"Shh! They'll hear you!" She hissed, and I turned.
"I'm going down to get him." But Sierra grabbed my arm, pulling me back.
"No! He's the bait! The Witch wants all five of us!" Lucy looked scared.
"Why?" She asked. Mr. Beaver answers before I could.
"To stop the prophecy from coming true. To kill me and to kill you!" Susan turned to me.
"This is all your fault!" I blinked.
"My fault? How is this my fault?!"
"This never would've happened if you'd listened to me in the first place!" I nearly snorted.
"Oh, so you knew this was going to happen?!" Peter asked, his face slightly red now.
"I didn't know what was going to happen! Which is why we should've left while we still could!" Susan snapped, almost crying.
"STOP IT!" Lucy screamed. We all looked at her, shocked.
"This isn't going to help Edmund." Sierra nodded.
"She's right. Only Aslan can help your brother now." We headed back to the dam to get ready for the journey ahead of us.Edmund's POV
I headed inside, and by the time I got to the door, I had passed who-knows-how-many statues, and I had drawn glasses and a mustache on a tiger. Then, I saw a wolf lying in the doorway, so I tried to step over it, and it pounced on me."Trespassers are not tolerated in the Queen's house! State your name, and your intentions!" I gulped.
"My name is Edmund! I met the Queen in the woods! She told me to come here! I'm the Son of Adam!" The wolf backed off, and allowed me to stand.
"My apologies, fortune favorite of the Queen. Or else, not so fortunate." I followed him through the halls, and we came to a throne room, and he stopped.
"Wait here, and I shall announce your arrival to the Queen." He left, and I looked at the fur-draped throne, walking up to it, and I sat down. Then, I heard a voice.
"Comfortable?" I stood quickly, seeing the Queen.
"Yes....your majesty." She smiled, but it wasn't a welcoming smile, and she sat.
"Tell me Edmund, are your sisters deaf?" I wasn't sure why she asked.
"No." She raised her eyebrows.
"And your brother, is he unintelligent?"
"Well, I think so, but mum says-" She stood, anger flashing in her eyes.
"Then how dare you come alone?!" I back away, terrified.
"Well, I tried but-" She kept coming toward me.
"It was such a simple task, and you couldn't even do that." Then, I remembered.
"Wait! I brought them halfway! They're in a little house in the dam, with the beavers! The beavers said something about Aslan!" She froze.
"Aslan? Where?" I didn't want to tell her quite yet.
"I- I don't know. I left before they said anything. I- I wanted to see you!" She turned, going back to her throne.
"Could- may I have some more Turkish Delight?" She turned to a dwarf.
"Our guest is hungry." He came towards me, drawing a knife, so I complied. Then, she turned to the wolf.
"Maugrim! Ready your wolves. You know what to do." He nodded, howling, and another two dozen wolves spilled from every which way, and they all took off, barking and howling. As they left, it finally dawned on me.
"What have I done?" I thought, miserably.
