We're just friends. Nothing more, nothing less. Just friends, you thought to yourself. You screamed in frustration at your laptop screen. Tears started to well up in your eyes, "But I want to be more, I want to be more than just friends. This is making me go crazy, I-I love you." You looked at your screen and hesitated. You weren't too sure if you should video call Lee, I don't want to bother him, what if he's busy? You pushed your laptop away and ran your hands through your hair. For a moment you just stayed still, hands entangled in your hair. Suddenly, courage filled your body and you pressed VIDEO CALL. The little pings went on forever, maybe he wasn't going to pick up.

Bloop.

"HEY!" cried out Lee, "I was just thinking about you." You're heart skipped about a hundred beats, "Really? That's funny, I was literally about to hang up."
Watching Lee through your screen made you feel like he was millions of miles away. Well he kinda was, he left two months ago to shoot for a new film. He's in Los Angeles California and you're stuck in humid Tampa Florida.
"Y/N? Hellooo?" Lee cooed. I need to stop doing that, "Sorry, I was thinking about something. What did you said?" you smiled at the camera. "It's okay, you used to do that to me all the time remember?" he laughed, "I was in the kitchen when I heard you calling. Glad you didn't hang up." Typical Lee, always eating. You smiled and rolled your eyes, "Do you never NOT eat?" His laugh echoed through the screen and for a moment it felt as if he were right in the room with you. "Only when I'm sleeping, even then, I dream about it." You laughed at his silliness, Lee was staring at you through the screen. "What?" you asked curiously. Lee smiled shyly, "We've been friends for a year today. That's crazy. It feels like just yesterday." He's kept track of how long we've been friends? He's so sweet. I should tell him. There's no harm...no..this could end our friendship. You battled the option of telling him you had feelings for him in your mind. It could only go two ways, he liked you or he didn't. Was it worth it?
"Hey, are you okay. You seem a little off. What's wrong??" Lee's words came slowly and softly. You shook your head meekly, "Oh it's nothing. Just- nothing never mind." Lee leaned in towards his camera as it zoomed in on your screen, "Tell me, pleaaaaase." You rubbed your face roughly with yours hands and kept them over your face, your words came out muffled, "This could ruin our friendship." Lee cocked his head, "Y/N, just tell me. I won't say anything until you're finished talking. You know I'm always here to listen. I care about you." I care about you. Maybe those were the words that triggered you, but you decide right then and there you would do it. "Fine. But please if you don't agree with me, please, please, don't leave. I can go back to the way things used to be." Lee's face turned a bit pinkish, "I won't leave you. I promise." Lee knew where this was going, but he didn't say anything because he wanted to hear what you were going to say. You paused for a moment, just to gather your thoughts and began to explain the entire thing.

Deep breath. In...out...in...out. Okay, here goes. "This past year has been extremely crazy. Things I didn't expect to happen, happened. People passed away, my depression came back, I discovered more about myself. Like you said, we've been friends for a year now and it's been the best year of my life because you were in it. I didn't let all the bad things get to me because I had you." Lee was giving you his full attention, his eyes full of emotion. He nodded for you to go on. "I became a better person just by meeting you. No one, no one, has ever been able to do that. The more I learned about you and how you were working hard for your success made me push harder in life too. Before, I didn't have the motivation or determination to continue, I had given up. I gave up on my future, my life. "
You looked up at the screen and saw that Lee had his hands over his eyes. Was he crying? You went on, "you- you were the one that changed me. You have made such a big difference in my life and I just wanted to say thank you. In the midst of this entire year I realized one really important thing. You, Lee, are such an incredible  person. I saw how sweet you were to everyone, to me especially. I saw how big of a sports fan you really are, all these things people outside don't really see. You're incredible. That's why I'm not surprised that..." You paused for a second, "...that I fell in love with you."

Lee let out a soft laugh, "You have no idea how many emotions are running through me right now. You know, I've been away for about two months, almost three, and every moment in not by your side my heartaches."

You couldn't believe what was coming out of his mouth. This whole time you thought he was just your best friend.

Lee continue to speak, "Y/N, I never showed you how I felt because I was scared, I was scared you didn't feel the same way. Everyday I didn't speak to you or didn't face chat with you, I'd spend thinking what you were doing. If you missed me, because hell, I do. You make my heart race every time I see you look back at me, even if it's through a computer screen. What I'm trying to say is that, I love you. One more year of just being friends isn't going to do it for me anymore."
You sucked in your breath.
Lee looked down at his hands and then at the screen, "Y/N, I know long distance is hard, but I know we can make it work. Will you be my best friend, partner in crime, and sweetheart?" He was blushing so hard you could see it clearly through the screen. You had the biggest smile, "Distance isn't a issue when two people love each other, I'd gladly be your best friend, partner in crime, and sweetheart. Lee you're amazing, I can't even begin to express it."

Hours went on and both of you talked about everything. How the weather was in LA, how he had gotten food poisoning because of an old burrito, how you tripped in front of everyone at work, to how you spent two hours at a book store. There was a three hour time difference between both of you; it was already 3am in Florida and midnight in California, you were staring to get sleepy. You're voice was starting to get raspy, "Hey, I'm starting to fall asleep, I'll call you in the morning?" Lee smiled fondly at you, "I'll call you. You get some rest now." You placed your hand on the camera and he did the same, "I love you." Your eyes were heavy with sleep, "I love you too, goodnight." "Goodnight, sweet dreams."
Bloop.
VIDEO CALL ENDED.
Your eyes shut and for the first time in a long time, you fell asleep with a smile on your face.
