“I think I can actually say that last night was the best night of my life,” Reed states with a grin on his face.

We were currently on my bed under the covers. Naked. Yes, we did it. And to be honest I don’t regret it. I make it sound like he’s my first but no. That I regret, not having him as the first guy I’ve ever been with. But at least he’s only the second guy.

“Well I’m glad I could be of service,” I throw back with a sly smile on my face.

“Who knew little Ms. Goody Goody had it in her,” he teases.

“Yeah, well I had practice,” I throw back.

The smile from his face drops and I swear he looked a bit pissed off.

“So are you saying I’m not your first?” he asks slowly.

“Come on why do you sound surprised. I’m not your first, so why does it astound you that I’m not a virgin?” I question, daring him to answer.

“It’s not about whether or not you’ve popped the cherry. It’s more about who popped it for you,” he answers. Obviously.

“Why does it matter so much to you?” I ask, annoyance presence in my voice.

“Because I want to know ‘Mar, why is it such a big deal?” he asks just as annoyed.

“I don’t like talking about him, that’s all,” I whisper.

I attempt to get out of bed but Reed is quick and pulls me back. He turns me so that I’m facing him. He takes a strand of hair and starts twirling it around his finger.

“Talk to me, please Amara?” he pleads.

His blue eyes piercing mine. I could feel a lump in my throat rising.

“Back in middle school when Stef, Fillipa and I were still buddies there was this guy Adam. Your typical boy next door kid. He was sweet and so amazing. So we started going out you know, then one day we got into this huge fight. I said some really harsh things and Adam just lost it. He hit me. But that was once. He was so heartbroken over it, saying he was going to turn himself in to the cops and everything. If you saw the look on his face, you would’ve have just cried for him. So I promised that I would forget it ever happened. So we continued dating, even after Fillipa left. Then we did it Sophomore year. Then somewhere at the end of Junior year, he would show up at my doorstep either drunk or angry as hell. I had no idea why, so one day I asked him what was going on then he just flipped a shit. Took it all out on me. My brother, Bryce found me unconscious on the doorstep, went after Adam. The next thing I know, my Dad’s getting a call about how Bryce was shot. Apparently it was just self defense. Adam only did a couple of weeks of community and service,”I finish with a sigh.

Only then did I realize that I was crying. Reed pulls me more into him and hugs me tight. He then kisses my head mumbling ‘I love you’ into my hair.

“Your brother was a good guy,” he speaks.

My head snaps up and I stare at him wide eyed. What the hell was he talking about?

“What are you talking about?” I ask vey confused.

“Bryce was my boxing mentor,” he replies.

It takes me a while to realize what he’s saying then I let out a loud laugh. Reed just stares at me like I’ve gone crazy.

“You’re Stoney the Bear?” I ask completely amused.

I watch as a smile slowly creeps onto his face.

“Of course he told you that. I’m not surprised. You know he got the entire sports centre to call me that,” he says reminiscing back.
