Chapter 7

Previously on Boy or girl:

"They've head home early due to...certain circumstances." Reiji went back to his book. Kanato sat beside Takashi, now smiling at him with Teddy as they had a closer relationship from the time that morning. Takashi sighed as he looked out the window. Damn, today's been a long day. With that, he blinked his eyes a couple of times, before feeling the fatigue taking over as he fell asleep. It was 2 am in the morning anyways, not fitting his usual sleeping schedule.

Chapter 7: Another discoverer

The peaceful sound of flowing water resonated in the room as Yui's consciousness slipped back. Slowly opening her eyes, Yui's vision slowly cleared as a blue ceiling occupied her line of view. "Yo, you awake?" The red head sitting by the handrest of the blue couch in the room asked, shifting his gaze from the bow in his hands to the blonde. Memories flooded back to Yui as she gasped and quickly sat up, backing away from the red-haired vampire.

"S-stay back!" Yui cried helpessly as she watched Ayato nearing her. "Why are you doing this?" Ayato looked down at her with a bored expression.

"You still haven't gotten it through you head," Ayato picked up, leaning nearer to Yui. Yui made a questioning sound before it turned into sounds of fear and dread as Ayato wrapped his arms around her and lifted her up. Walking calmly to the pool of glistening blue water, Ayato stood there for a few minutes. Yui gazed at the large pool of water in horror, eyes widened immensely as her pale hands started to tremble. "You are at the mercy of Ore-sama. Stop quibbling over every little thing I do!" Ayato said before ending with a loud tone, drawing Yui back from the pool before throwing her into the blue liquid with ease, the same impassive look on his face. Yui screamed out before dropping into the pool with a large splash.

Bubbles filling her vision, Yui could feel the air escaping her lungs as water slowly replaced them. Ayato stood by the pool, looking down at Yui. "Now, tell me that I'm the best." Ayato said. "Tell me I'm better than anyone else, and that you belong to me."

Yui burst out from the water surface as she reached her hand out, struggling to stay afloat and not drown. She gasped out loud for air and cried, "Ayato-kun!" before sinking back into the water. She flailed her arms frantically, doing all she could to keep floating as her lungs started burning for air. "I can't-"- she sink down before coming back up -" -swim!" Ayato watched as Yui constantly struggled in the water, waiting for another reaction. Suddenly, an image crossed his eyes as his cat-green orbs widened.

A woman with flowing long hair stood on the land above, her eyes covered by her long bangs as her lady-like dress flowed in the breeze. Behind her was an area of forest. Trees of lush and dark green surrounded her as a distant castle can be seen beyond the trees. A pale child hand appeared, stretching and reaching for the woman as she gazed at the child. Ayato saw his small figure in a pond in the forest as he constantly struggled to stay afloat, a horror-stricken expression on his face as he vainly reached out his hand, hoping that the woman will save him. The woman made no motion whatsoever. Realising that no one will save him, the child's eyes widened in despair as his hand slowly lowered from the woman. A mother, that would not save her drowning son. The child slowly sank back into the water and disappeared from the surface of the water, leaving moving ripples behind as he sank deeper into the pond bed. "Tasukete!"

Ayato came back from his memories as his eyes widened in terror. His hands trembled by his side after reliving the memory upon seeing Yui experiencing what he felt. Ayato clenched his hands and gritted his teeth. When he was about to jump in, he felt a force push him away as a splash was heard. He froze in his motion, turning to the newly made splash of water as he landed on the ground after staggering from the force, shocked at what was happening. However, his eyes narrowed as he noticed two blurred figures underwater, one of which was Yui while the other was not recognisable. Reiji entered the room, staring strictly at Ayato as the latter turned to the entrance when he felt Reiji's presence. Reiji said nothing, only stating, "You'll have to answer to me later." Ayato 'tch'ed and stood up. Shoving his hands into his uniform jeans pocket, Ayato threw one last glance at the pool before turning his back and stalked out of the room.
