A Rant On Amourshipping Fanfics On Wattpad

Satire is a genre of literature, and sometimes graphic and performing arts, in which vices, follies, abuses, and shortcomings are held up to ridicule, ideally with the intent of shaming individuals, corporations, government or society itself, into improvement.

I'm sure you might be asking, what exactly is this supposed to be about? If you haven't read the explanation above then it's basically just me ranting about the many clichéd Amourshipping stories on Wattpad. Be aware that this is a completely biased rant and it's in no way meant to offend anyone. With that said, let's get started.

Cliché story #1: High School

Why do most Amourshipping stories on Wattpad always seems to have Ash, Serena and some of the other characters in a high school. It always goes like this, Serena a new girl/ lonely girl/ girl who gets bullied by the other female characters falls in love with a certain guy who had just transferred here. It's always the same thing, I honestly don't know how are you going to make an interesting story in a high school. If it was in the normal Pokemon universe you would have more choices with your ideas. It's pretty much just a way for authors to just make Ash and Serena fall in love without putting any effort into developing them.

Cliché story #2: Lemon

The whole concept of a lemon still baffles me, why would you want to have two fictional people from a KIDS show have sex! What makes it even weirder that people actually enjoy this kind of crap! It's so ironic that some authors are some dumb that they don't know how a baby is formed. You're writing M rated content and you don't even know the most basic of it?! I always feel uneasy when the author decides to describe the entire process of the intercourse just for the hell of it.

Cliché story #3: Extreme gore and swearing

Now I don't have a problem with gore or swearing in a Pokemon fanfic. But if half your story is just going to be pointless descriptions of gory events and people swearing at each other and being OOC (Out Of Character) every five seconds and no plot whatsoever, then don't even bother.

Cliché story #4: Death

Death is a serious topic, with the person having to leave his friends and loved ones because of a terrible accident or other. This could work well with a ship like Amourshipping. But then the author would always find some dumb way to bring them back to life because all stories have to end on a happy note! Not all stories have to be a happy one to be the most effective! Making the person cope with the tragedy would be a more interesting plot instead of "go find A to bring back Ash/Serena back to life, you can only bring them back if your desire for them is very strong."

Cliché story #5: Complete randomness

I won't be stating names here, but I once read a fanfiction on Wattpad that involves Amourshipping. It had a really simple title and description regarding it. But when I started reading it, it was a complete and utter mess. One chapter has Serena run away and cry for no apparent reason and gets comfort by Ash 20 seconds later. Another one has them go to an airport to catch a flight to Sinnoh for no reason, and Team Rocket traps Serena and Bonnie over a pit of lava, STILL IN AN AIRPORT! Another chapter of Ash and Serena ending up in New York, cause why not? And meet some random OC (Original Character) who knows Serena from Professor Oak's Summer Camp, WITH NOTHING LEADING UP TO IT! He just shows up, in New York, and as leader of Team Rocket. Just thinking about it gives me a headache.....

Cliché story #6: Serena losing her memories

Ever since that rumor of Serena losing her memories in late 2014, multiple stories regarding this starts popping up. But most of them were just bad, oh Serena trips over a Ladyba, loses her memories. And then regains it after Ash just gives her a kiss on the lips and voila, back to normal! There was only one story that did it right, with a legitimate reason of Serena losing her memories, her staying like that for multiple chapters, the gang trying their best to help her remember but to no avail. It was only after going on a walk and having a long talk with Ash she slowly starts remembering, finally remembering in the end. Now THAT'S how you do a good amnesia story.

Cliché story #7: Ash was in a coma all along!

This is just stupid, it all started with a Creepypasta talking about how in the very first episode Ash actually ended up in a coma and was rushed to a hospital. Every single event after the first episode are nothing more then figments of Ash's mind. The companions he met are just his personalities. Now there are so many holes in this story that I won't go into detail about because it puts ME in a coma just by reading it! Anyway, a story like this usually goes like this, the gang meets Team Flare, gets kidnapped by Team Flare, Bonnie and Clemont are killed for no reason. Ash and Serena are the only ones left, both in their dying breaths and it fades to white, suddenly cutting to Ash waking up in a hospital bed. The doctors are like "You have been in a coma for 9 years! Everyone you know and love are just part of your imagination!" Then Ash goes on and say that Serena was the only one he actually met in real life before (insert accident here) occurred. He runs off from his room, and lo and behold! Bumps into Serena in the hallway. And they go on a journey through Kanto together. Whoop de do.

Cliché story #8: An old female companion comes back and Serena gets jealous.

This is the most overused Amourshipping story as far as the eye can see. It's always like this, old female companion usually comes back, Serena gets all jealous. Gets all sassy with female companion, Ash asked what's wrong, Serena tells him what's wrong and then suddenly they kiss. Then the next day they say their farewells to the female companion. Why can't it just be a story of Serena and the female companion getting along. Oh it's because we're Amourshippers and we're going to go hate on the other ships by making the two fight over Ash. Seriously I wouldn't recommend writing on this subject.

So there you have it, my rant on the many cliché Amourshipping stories on Wattpad. Again, this is in no way meant to offend anyone and it is simply my opinion. To all aspiring author Amourshipping authors, try to avoid any of these cliché stories. Use your imagination! Think of something original! Variety is the spice of life after all! With that said, this is Ikcatcher, signing off.
