✖Prologue✖

The moon was full and glistening silver. The wind is cold but feels so good when it blows against my warm skin. I take a deep breath in smelling fresh cut grass mixed with meadow follows and just all together the perfect smell of calm meadow night. I close my eyes and lie down in the grass and listen to the sounds of nature. Just then I hear footsteps and quickly I sit up and turn over to the left to see a shadow walking in my direction. The shadow just stands there but I can see blood red glowing from the shadow where the eye would be.

"What is a little girl doing all alone on such a dark night?"

I stay quite not knowing who this person is or what they can do to me.

"What a stupid little girl." The shadow says, the it hits me the person sounds make so it must be a man. Just as I thought a man walks into the moon light and I see that I was right. The man's skin was pale, but what surprised me the most were saber tooth fangs coming out of his mouth. My heart started pounding in my chest. I look down at his cloths and see that they have some red substance on them. Is it blood? Just then the man jumps towards me pining me to the ground. Screaming with all my lungs I prayed that someone would save me.Squeezing my eyes close I prepare myself for the horror awaiting me.

"AHHHH!" My eyes fly open and the man is burning. Then I see something fly over to the man and stand him right in his chest. There is a faint glow of light and with that the man turns into a pile of ash right in front of my eyes.

Another person in a blue hoodie runs right over to me.

"Are you ok? He didn't bite you did he?" Says the stranger as he moves my hair away checking my neck. I slaps him in the face and back away terrified.

"Don't touch Me!!!!" I say sternly.

"Ouch! That hurt... I save you and what do I get? A slap in the face." The stranger says.

"Who are you?" I ask and the person removed his hood to show a little boy. He had black eyes, light brown hair, a little bit pale skin, and he didn't look much older then me. Something catches my eyes and I look up to see black cat ears on his head. My eyes widen in shock.

"My name is Ryuu. That's all you need to know. " He says and gets up and runs off. Watching as he runs away I see that he also has a tail. What kind of human is he? Scared of being outside anymore I run home as fast as I can. When I get home I run over to the kitchen and see my father standing there.

"Daddy..?" There was no response. Walking over to him I tug on his shirt hoping to get his attention.

"Daddy?" I say with a little whine in my tone.

"Yes Skai?" Says my daddy without turning around to look at me.

"I was just attack by this thing."

"Oh poor little Skai. It's not my fault your blood smells so good."

"Daddy?" My father turns around but he looks different. His eyes are blood red and he has saber tooth fangs just like the man that attacked me. Taking a step back scared, but worried about what happened to my father.

"Daddy? What happened to you."

"SKAI GET DOWN!" I turn and see my mother standing there.

"GET DOWN!" She repeats and I drop down to the ground and then BANG!

"AAAAHHHHHH!!!" I turn to look over at my dad and there is something in his face. Then my father turns into a pile of ash.

"DADDY!!" I scream as tears start to run down my face. Hearing foot steps competing over to me I look back to my mom and she hugs me tightly.

"Skai that wasn't your father." She tells me as she wipes my tears from my face.

"What?"

"Your father was attacked by a vampire. I'm sorry honey but if I didn't kill him he would have killed you." Hearing this my eyes widen. My own father would kill me and what does she mean vampire? I thought they were a myth.

"I thought vampires were fake?"

"No vampires are real. Even witches, demons, werewolves, etc are real."

"But why did they attack us?"

"Because we are the last of the chosen ones."

"Chosen ones?" She nods and pulls me into a hug.

"You have awaken and now I can train you to hunt and kill these creatures to protect human kind."

"But mom."

"You will be fine now come on we need to find a new home." Says my mom as she starts to pull me towards the door. We didn't pack or anything. Just then I remember my cat Charcoal.

"Wait mom Charcoal!" I say sliding out of her grip and run back into the house where I'm meet by my little kitty. I pick him up and run back out to my mom.
