Separate Ways (Part 1)

Lucy was tired, the 14 hour plane ride had worn her out. But she made it. Reno International Airport.

She made her way to baggage claim and walked to her rental car. Still in her Army fatigues.

She was excited to see her boyfriend Loki. His birthday was today and she told him she was still at the army base in Arkansas. She hopped on the next available flight and here she was. Driving up Highway 50, to Lake Tahoe. Where Loki's vacation house was. Lucy picked it out, being three stories and a hot-tub caught her eyes. She pulled into Zephyr Heights and spotted the House. Parking next to Loki's car, she noticed an unknown sleek Audi 8 parked on the curb. Puzzled she walked up to the house and walked in. 

"Hey babe! Surprise!" She looked around not seeing him. She began to pull out her cellphone and stopped when she heard movement. She walked up the hall and opened the door where the noise was still coming from. Her heart lunged into her throat and her stomach twisted into knots that would make a normal person fall to their knees. Her mind went blank as she saw Loki laying with a familiar blonde. Lucy dropped her bags and grabbed her .45 strapped to her leg. she aimed it at the ceiling and fired once. The shot made the glass vibrate and echoed loudly, but Lucy didn't realize. With 2 tours to Iraq under her belt she was affected.

Loki shot up and aimed his 9 mm at the person in the doorway then quickly dropped his gun and saw it was Lucy. 

"L-Lucy?! What are you doing here?!" Loki's breathing increased. He started to panic as Lucy holstered her weapon, the blonde uncovered her face and sat up. Lucy's best friend Maya, sat there scared and clinging to Loki closely. 

Lucy's eyes lost color and she grabbed her bags and walked out. Her combat boots hitting each wood step hard she kicked open the front door and walked out to her truck. Tossing the bags in the back she hopped in. Loki ran out and ran for her driver door. Before he reached her Lucy threw the truck in reverse and left the vacation house. 

Loki yelled her name and ran halfway down the street in only pants. Lucy's face remained emotionless. As she drove through the darkening streets, her phone blew up. That familiar ringtone of "Carry on my wayward son" played. She ignored it. 

Turning up the radio she felt her stomach growl and she stopped to eat. Her phone was still going off, by this time she was used to it. The clerk behind the counter spoke.

"Miss, your phone is going off." He was intimidated because she was still in her army fatigues and the gun on her leg didn't help. She smiled and took her phone out. 
"Oops, sorry about that." She silenced her phone and ordered her food.

After she got her food she walked out to her truck. As she climbed in and settled in her seat, she pulled out her cell phone and dialed Loki's number. He answered on the first ring. 

"You have 30 seconds." Lucy's voice was strong, but the tears were already forming.

"Lucy, Babe, Come on, please come home. Let's talk about Maya. It wasn't what you think it is." 
Loki spoke fast and his voice trembled. Almost as though he was upset and pissed.

"Give me a good reason I should not blow your brains out." She rested her hand on her weapon strapped to her thigh and scoffed.

"This isn't funny Luce...Please come home." 

Lucy sighed and hung up, Driving the way she came from. 
About 10 minutes later she pulled up in the driveway and parked. Loki walked out to her truck and opened her door for her. She dropped out to the floor and walked inside and stopped at the fireplace where all their photos together were. She picked one up and turned around to see Loki's face. It was red and tears stained his cheeks, Lucy felt her heart break for him. But stopped when she remembered what happened. 

"Lu-" Loki took a step forward to embrace Lucy but she held up the photo of them by the lake during a sunset. She smiled and handed it to him. 

Loki took the picture and stared. 

"Happy birthday, Loki." Lucy patted his shoulder and she went for the door. Loki's eyes widened and he span around and hugged her from behind. 

"Don't leave like this..." Loki's arms tighten around her waist.

It took everything Lucy had not to breakdown into tears. Her heart was breaking slowly and it was killing her inside. She loved him, and wanted to forgive him but her mind kept telling her no.

She turned and kissed his cheek and walked out to her truck and headed back to the airport. Heading back to her truck she made the hour drive back to Reno to catch the earliest flight back to Arkansas.
