"I don't know anybody who's road has been paved perfectly for them. There are no manuals, you never know what life has in store for you."
~Drew Barrymore

For the sixth time in this month. Sixth time.It wasn't as if I did it by choice. It was my reflex. And I never thought it was wrong. Just a little brutal.

"Come in."A voice said from the other side of the old wooden archaic style door. A voice I knew oh so well. I sighed and pulled the door open and was faced with what I had expected.

"Miss..." He asked. The old man tries every time. "As I have mentioned earlier,Mr. Humphrey,I do not have a surname as far as I can remember. So please do me the favor of calling me by my name." I said,my annoyance clearly audible. He coughed loudly, evidently surprised by my words.

"Certainly. Now," he said, motioning me to take a seat. "I'm sure you're aware of why you're here." "Yes. Very well aware." I sighed.

"Look,I have no idea how I act up like that. It's almost as if I was born with those reflexes. I cannot prevent it from happening." He didn't say anything,so I continued,"I genuinely do not want to harm anyone,I swear."

He looked at me and coldly said,"My work is to keep my customers happy,Jenna. If you're harming anyone with your actions, then it is yourself. You know how desperately you need the money and if you're not willing to change for it, then I'm sorry,I have no other choice."

I looked down and shut my eyes to keep my calm. "I'm sorry. I will watch out next time." I said, pain lacing my words. "You'd better." He said, turning back to his work. I turned around and prepared to leave.

I heard the old man say, "Trust me Jenna, this is for your own good. You have no idea about the troubles that await you."

My own good? I knew he was just giving me an excuse and I just decided to ignore him and walk out.

Life had been so unfair to me since I was little. Didn't have any idea about who I was. No idea where I came from. Nobody came forward to accept me and I stayed on the streets, managing to steal food from this one restaurant year after year, until one day,he caught me. He was going to hand me over to the police, but he took pity on me and spared me by instead asking me to pay off my debt by working for him. And I accepted it.

In the 3 months I worked there,I met some very wonderful  people, who encouraged me to join college since, and I quote "everyone should get a chance".

But I had no money in my hands. I reluctantly had to request the old man to let me work in his restaurant as a part time waitress,in exchange for him paying my college fees.

He agreed and I joined college. Things were good for me after that. I loved learning new things and for some reason,I was very inclined towards the study of Space.

Everything beyond this brink of reality. The things that were out there were calling out to me. It was more of an obsession.I could read any number number of encyclopedias if given the time.

I was given a room in the corner with no windows, just a small sofa that was my makeshift bed. I didn't have any complaints.

But for the past few days,I had been behaving very strangely. If anyone did anything that I felt was offensive in the slightest,I would act up and have that person on the floor in a one strike match. Even just insult a player during the football match.

I did not understand why. I couldn't figure out what it was that was happening to me. I just felt insane. I felt so alone and broken.

As I put my head on the sofa,I let myself slip into a deep sleep.

Little did I know that right at that moment, galaxies were being wrecked just to locate me.

And I had been found.
