Little is known about Naruto's birth or parentage. What is known, however, is that around the time his mother was about to give birth to him, the Nine-tails Demon Fox, Kyuubi, attacked his village, Konoha and the 4th Hokage decided to seal the demon away with a forbidden technique inside him, sacrificing his life in the process. The 4th Hokage's wish was for Naruto to be remembered as a hero by the people of the village. Things, unfortunately for him, definitely did not turn out that way. The people of the village needed something to blame and channel their bitterness and loss onto, and he was the perfect candidate. The adults of the village, without known exceptions, knew him and treated him as nothing more than the stupid fox that has attacked the village; As a result he grew up alone and isolated. Naruto went through very difficult emotional times and often shed many tears, but kept reprimanding himself for doing so and telling himself nothing would be achieved by crying. Eventually he developed into the loudmouth, hyperactive prankster punk he was at the start of the manga, though this is only an act to cover up for his deep insecurity in a desperate plight for recognition. Naruto tends to rush into combat without thinking. However, he is capable of devising some quite clever plans by creative usage of his jutsus. He has more than once upstaged what looked like a superior opponent by exploiting the element of surprise an unconventional usage of a techniques. Naruto's dream is to one day become the Hokage. He works hard at his goal and also to prove himself to Sasuke, who is his biggest rival.

Sasuke is a natural born genius and was the number one rookie genin of the year. Sasuke has a dark and bloody past, linking to the genocide of his clan. His ultimate goal is revenge; to kill the man who is responsible for the slaughter of the Uchiha clan. His own brother; Uchiha Itachi. Sasuke is also very popular among girls, but he is to obsesed with revenge to even notice or care. To acomplish his goal, Sasuke wants to become strong by fighting powerful opponents. Sasuke is on team 7; with his teammates Naruto, Sakura, and their sensei Kakashi. Because of Sasuke being an Uchiha, he posesses their clan's special bloodlimit ability; the Sharingan eyes. With Sasuke's current strenghth when he activates the Sharingan he can see through Genjutsu (illusions) and even copy and memorize Taijutsu (physical attacks). Sasuke is a very powerful genin and has lots of potentail to improve his strength even more.
