Chapter Eight: Tale As Old As Time

__________

|Third Person|

To be fair, the man was a muggle.

He couldn't know any better, right?

James Potter pondered the idea of Lily Evans' "loon" father, and how to keep his (overly?) concerned muggle-self out of the equation as much as possible.

Ever since the startling news of Lily Evans being trapped, held hostage by none other than Snivelly Snape, his personal favourite target; the Marauders got to work on how to save the day.

Deep down, James always knew Snape was weak. He always knew that Snape would eventually give in, following in the footsteps of the Death Eaters, evidently showing his true colours. With high ranks, too. James never doubted that Snape would prove himself as the biggest coward of all, but part of him did feel a slight bit of surprise. Why would someone as prestigious, cunning, and calculative as Voldemort accept someone as pathetic as Snivellus? A greasy boy with unwashed underthings that James would happily expose again and again should he have the chance.

Ultimate revenge must be put upon the greaseball. No one, no one, steals Evans away from him. Even if meant in terms other than romance.

He, Sirius, Remus, and somewhat Peter, have been working hard to concoct an ideal plan to save his damsel in distress. Admittedly, yes, it had been weeks, well over a bloody month - much too much time spent leaving her in that prison - but James was on it nonetheless. Pain pierced his chest (and, well, pride) every time he thought of how distressed Lily would feel every night, realizing that her knight in shining armor had failed to save her once more. Little did she truly know, that there was no need to worry. James Potter would be well on his way, clad in heroic (and boyfriend) material.

Yes, that would suffice. A grand entry, a heroic save, a round of applause, and her declaration of love.

Anything less would be unacceptable.

James nodded to himself in satisfaction, before feeling a hand clasp on his shoulder.

"Okay mate?" Sirius' voice sounded, and James turned to face him with a grin.

"I'm great. Ready even. Did you find the location yet?"

Aside from planning the perfect way to save Lily and look daringly heroic all at once, they had one problem.

Where in the bloody hell was Malfoy Manor?

The location was not extremely secretive to the world, but the Marauders would never classify themselves as 'friends' or 'acquaintances' with such putrid blood. Sirius, who's cousin was Narcissa Malfoy, did not even know where her home was situated. He never as so much cared to know, much less have the will to visit.
