"Girls get scary when they get older..."

"He can kiss whoever he wants, I really couldn't care less."

"I get it. You choose him."

Memories flooded Hermione's mind, causing her tears to flow faster and harder. She looked down at her ring, blurred by tears, the small but pretty diamond glistening in the band.

Why was she marrying him?

Hasn't he done more harm than good?

She loved him, and he surprised her occasionally with a sweet gesture, but he wasn't anything remarkable, was he?

She raised a shaking hand to her face to wipe her tears away.

"Oh, god, Hermione, what are you doing?" she whispered. When she was younger, she had wanted to make something of her life, travel the world and use magic to cure world problems.

Marriage? If she had time, and the person had to be willing to go wherever she wanted to.

She loved her job in magical law, but it anchored her primarily to Wizarding London.

She loved Ron, too, but maybe that wasn't enough. Maybe she needed someone who really was the remarkable person she had always wanted.

"Hermione?"

She jumped, hastily wiping her eyes.

It wasn't a voice she should hear. She knew the voice, and couldn't imagine why the voice was here, but it couldn't be anyone else.

She turned around, and sure enough, she was right.

"Draco?"
