What About Love - part 4

Austin's POV:

I wait for what seems like forever. The doctors finally come out to get me. They bring me into the room Skyler is. She lays there asleep like she was before but now I can see her breathing. That's all I really ask for, is to see her breathing.

The doctors left me to be alone with her. They told me not to wake her, to let her rest. She's been through a lot. That's the best thing I can do for her right now is to let her rest.

4 hours go by and I'm still hear in the exact same spot I was before. Skyler still hasn't woke up yet. I look over and see the stitches and bandages wrapped around her head.

Skyler's so strong. She literally went to heaven and back.

I hear her breath heavy and look up. Her eyes flutter open. My heart beats fast. I'd thought I'd never see those eyes again.

"Skyler?" I say grabbing her hand.

She looks at me confused. I go out of the room to get a doctor.

The doctor tells me to step out of the room for minute. I go outside the room and the doctor closes the door.

15 minutes later the doctor comes out and shuts the door behind her.

"Well it looks like she's remembering somethings. Like who she is and who her parents are. I asked if she remembers you but she said she doesn't know you. I'm sorry."

"Oh I'll make her remember! I will! When can I bring her home?"

"We'll she has to stay for a couple of days to recover. You may go in and see her if you would like."

"Yes",I say simply walking in the room and close the door behind me.

"Skyler? It's me Austin, you're boyfriend! Don't you remember?"

"No! I've never seen you in my life!"

"But I love you Skyler! And you love me!",I start tearing up.

"Can you please just tell me what happened and why I'm here?"

"Well we went to a club and we got in a fight-"

"Why'd we get in a fight?", she says interrupting me.

"Well I got drunk and kissed another girl, but I never meant too! And so you went to a friends house and I went to find you. When I did, you kept running away from me. You ran in the road and a car hit you! Next thing I know you're here! The doctors told me they couldn't save you and if they did you would be paralyzed! But I got a call the next morning that they could save you. They told me they had to do brain surgery on you and you wouldn't be paralyzed but you would lose your memory."

"Well I remember mostly everything, I just don't remember you, I'm sorry."

"You mean you don't remember anything about me? We've been dating for 2 years now!"

"I'm sorry I just don't Justin."

"Austin*"

"Oh yeah sorry. Hey you seem really nice though!"

"But Skyler! You don't understand!",I say crying hard.

"What do you mean?"

"What about our love!? Everything we had!"

"I'm sorry I wish I could!"

"Can you give me a chance please!"

"Okay."

"Thank you! You will remember! I promise!"

"Okay",she says unsure. "Do you mind if I rest? I have a pounding headache!"
