We hear the door of the TARDIS open, then close. Footsteps make their way to my room. It's the Doctor. He comes over, and plops down on my bed in between Daniel and I. He puts his arms around us. "I'm sorry," he apologizes. "If I had known what would've gone down during the visit, I never would have taken us here."
"It's okay," I promise.
Daniel puts his arm around the Doctor. "Yeah. We're good."
"Good! Where to next?"
"Daniel, where do you want to go?" I ask
He runs his hand through his hair. "How about...er...Germ...Fran...Athens?"
The Doctor pats him on the head. "Germanthens is actually the planet's name.""
Daniel's eyes narrow. "There's a planet with that name?"
"Yes! The people there are really very nice. Then again, it's impossible for them to be anything else," the Doctor explains. "So, wanna go there?"
"Um, no. How about...how about we stay here? In the TARDIS? Kate and I need a break. It's been a long week," Daniel says.
"It' barely been two days."
"Yeah, that's what I said," Daniel replies. He stands up. "Has the TARDIS added a new room for me?"
The Doctor stands up. "Yes, actually!" He knocks on the wall a foot above my bed. A suddenly existent 3" by 3" door swings open. Daniel peers inside. He looks at the Doctor.
"Is this a slide?" he asks.
"Indeed! Go have a look! You, too, Kathryn!" the Doctor urges.
Daniel and I exchange glances. He smirks. "Okay!" Daniel yelps. He jumps through my new door, and disappears. I shrug.
"Sure, why not." I get in, too. I push myself off of the ledge, and then I am falling. It's 10 feet, 15 feet, 20 feet before the slide ends. Ahead, I see blackness. A realization hits me. I slam my hands into the ceiling of the slide to stop myself. I slowly inch forward to discover the end of the slide is nearly 40 feet in the air. "Daniel?" I call.
"Yeah?" he responds, his voice echoing...not from below, but from what seems like across.
"Where are you?" I wonder.
He shouts back: "In my bed!"
I blink. "Where's your bed? I can't see anything!" All of a sudden, a small item hits my butt. I pick it up. It's a remote. I press a button. The lights snap on. Below me, I see a ginormous trampoline. Across, I see a 6" by 2" door with a railing-less balcony jutting out of the wall. "Wow. Okay. Let's do this." I scoot forward, and then I'm falling again.
I can feel my breakfast start to climb up my throat, when I plunge into the trampoline. I'm shot upwards at almost 50 miles per hour. I throw myself forwards, and, thankfully, land on the balcony. A sudden head rush hits me, so I pause before I open the door.
When I'm ready, I open the door. In front of me is a baby blue room with a water bed in the far right corner, a Coca Cola soda machine in the far left corner, a huge bookshelf in the front left corner, and a widescreen TV hooked up to Apple TV and cable, complete with fuzzy lounge chairs and coffee table in front of it in the front right corner. My jaw drops. "What. The. Hell?"
Daniel laughs. "I know, right? Oh! Check this out!" He wanders over to the bookshelf, and clicks a button on the side. The bookshelf swings open like a door, to reveal an actual door. "You won't believe this." He opens the second door, and...my closet is on the other side? I step into my closet, and push open the door. I'm in my room.
I go back to Daniel's room. "How, in any universe, is that possible? We're nearly 60 feet below my bedroom!"
Daniel scratches his head. "Yeah, kind of weird. Although, now you can hang out with me all the time! We can read, drink soda, watch TV, whatever we want!" he exclaims.
I smile sweetly. "One second, honey." I march back into my room, and find the Doctor. I slap him. "YOU BETTER DELETE THIS ROOM RIGHT NOW, AND MAKE DANIEL'S SINGLE BED A BUNK BED! I will not have his room be better than mine!"
"That can be arranged!" the Doctor says. He snaps his fingers, and suddenly we're in his room. "Okay, go through my closet."
I blink. "Okay." I enter his closet to find a door. I open it, and I'm in Daniel's room now. I carefully shut the door. "Hi."
"Hey! I was about watch some TV, but then a bed flickered into existence above mine. Bunk beds now! We share this room!" he says. "And get this: There are two dressing rooms. One for each of us, so we don't have to see each other naked. Also, in each dressing room is an entire bathroom. Tub, shower-head, hot and cold nozzles, toilet, sink. How amazing is this?"
My eyes sweep around the room again. "Pretty damn amazing," I mumble.
"I know! Come on!" He drags me over to the lounge chairs. We sit down. "Wanna watch Inside Out?" he invites.
"Only unless there's a tissue dispenser somewhere around here. I'm gonna cry my eyes out," I inform him.
He turns a knob on the coffee table. A section of the table opens up. With no warning at all, a tissue box shoots out of the hole, and lands in my lap. Silence fills the air. After the long silence, I whisper, "Okay, then. Let's get this movie started."
