"Excuse ma'am, do you have a minute to talk about..." he started as soon as the door opened.

"Oh, would you shut up!" his sister laughed, beaming at them. "Welcome, you guys!"

"Hi!" Chris grinned widely, "Happy Christmas!"

"Hello!" Jonny uttered, one of his shining smiles illuminating his face. "Happy Christmas!"

"Happy Christmas, Jonny. Come on in," she beckoned them in, "Has he been this excited all day?" she asked Jonny when Chris almost bounced his way into the hall, the bags in his hands ruffling against each other.

"Yeah!" his fiancé chuckled and Chris glanced back at him smiling when he could no longer feel big waves of anxiety rolling off him, only tiny ones hit him now.

"Come, come," she held the door and motioned them to continue on their way, "Dad's in the living-room with the rest."

"Are we the last ones?" the blue-eyed man asked a bit worried.

"No, we're still waiting for your baby sister."

"She's your sister as well!"

"She acts more like you anyways."

"Nah," Chris shook his head and winked at his boyfriend in an attempt to get a little chuckle from him. It worked. "Where shall we put the gifts?" he asked holding up the bags.

"Under the tree, come on. Hang your coats here first."

"Thank you," Jonny grinned as Chris left the presents on the floor momentarily to take off his coat. "Oh, here's some wine and mince pies," Jonny showed her what he was carrying.

She opened her mouth in surprise, "Thank you guys, very thoughtful. I'll take them to the kitchen," she took the bag from Jon, "You go ahead and join the family in there," she nodded, "Make yourselves at home," the young woman finally said, focusing mainly on Jonny.

"Thank you."

"Thanks sis," Chris smiled and after Jonny had taken his winter gear off, led the way to the living room. He could already hear his brother's and brother-in-law's voices coming from it as they laughed as his two nephews and his niece made a chirpy rendition of "When Santa Got Stuck Up The Chimney." They all seemed in a cheerful mood which was uplifting considering not all his family was here.

The room came to silence for a second and all heads turned towards them as Chris and Jon walked in. A second later everyone was happily saying their "hellos" and "Merry Christmas'" and to his relief, they all welcomed Jonny as one of their own.

"Hello boys, good to see you two!" his father patted them both on their shoulders.

"Good to see you too, Sir," his fiancé replied.

"Presents go under the tree Uncle Chris," Ellie, his 5-year-old niece informed them making everyone in the room crack up.

"Right!" he slapped his forehead playfully, "You're right! What was I thinking! Come on Jay, let's rectify this!"
