Shadows' Tears

In the still of the night,
When we can't see the light,
You tell me the Shadows cry.

Your eyes swell with tears,
And on emotion you overdose.
For even when I hold you close,
You can't escape all your fear.

You asked: "Have you ever heard,
When the Shadows cry?
Haven't you caught a word?
Do you even try?

Your past is full of sorrows;
And the sound of bitter tears.
I wish that I could borrow-
Or at least cover- your ears.

What the Shadows said, you have never told.
Like the saddness in our hearts,
How tightly we both hold.
I won't relax my grip, my friend;
I know their crying's nowhere near it's end.

In the still of the night,
When we can't see the light,
We both know the Shadows cry.

I finally hear what you hear,
And I will not let go, my dear.
Even though I know their crying's nowhere near it's end.
