Fiercely Fire Eyed

I'm fiercely fire eyed
Don't know exactly how
But with my eyes wide open
I see clearly now

I'm fiercely fire eyed
Watch my fire burn
When you look into my eyes
What a story you will learn

It started with a little girl
A young and fragile flower
She was left to fatal dreams
In which she had no power

She tried to find the answer
But no matter how hard she tried
They never left
And her soft petals died

This flower of a girl
Was awoken by the winter
She tried to hold on
But things were looking grimmer

So her petals were gone
And her innocence was dead
She fell into the traps
Of what other people said

But who were they?
Where did they come from?
Did they find her in her dreams
Whenever she did come?

Or did they visit her at night?
Creeping through the darkness
Filling her tiny ears
With fears that made her sleepless

That flower of a girl
She took a new form
She grew a wall of thorns
That would keep her safe from them

This wall contained a door
That only she could open
If others tried to enter
Their plans, like skin, were broken

Behind this wall of vines
This young and fragile flower
Stripped of her petals
Finally found her power

She turned into a rose
Blooming and red
That little buttercup
Had let it get to her head

She quickly discovered
And tried to clip the wire
But she realized instead
She had to start a fire

She found a couple matches
And that is what she did
A flaming rose
She was no longer a kid

She turned into a young woman
A burdened and blazing rose
She never thought she was strong
But she's always been a fighter

Sometimes it's difficult
And sometimes she can manage
Sometimes she needs help
To keep from causing damage

But if you look in my eyes
And know what I have done
You'll see that I've been trying
To get the battle won

If you look at my fingers
And can tell that I am scared
Don't worry now
Because it can be repaired

Because I'm fiercely fired eyed
There's no need to stay
Because my thorny fingertips
Can't wipe your tears away
