-Chapter 3-

I woke up around 10 AM that morning. It was Wednesday, meaning I only had 4 days left with her. I had to ask about her coming with me soon.

I picked up my phone. There was nothing from Jess, yet. But I did have a few texts from Louis and my mum. Louis said he missed me and he couldn't wait for me to come home. My mum said almost so the same thing. Great. I wasn't planning on staying in LA longer but now I knew I really couldn't. I would feel too guilty. I texted back with a reply that was similar for Lou and mum.

Then I quickly called Jess. The phone rang. Nothing. She must have still been sleeping. I left a message.

"Hey, love. I have something really important to ask. Call back as soon as possible. Lets make dinner plans tonight. Can't wait to see you. Bye." I hung up and turned on the TV waiting for a call back.

Hours passed and still nothing. I was beginning to get worried. I showered and drove to Jess's house. She lived there with both of her parents. I walked up to the door and no one was home. All there was was a note written by Jess. It was for me.

I read it aloud time and time again to grasp what happened, "Hi, Harry. I never got to tell you, but my dad was diagnosed with Lung Cancer two years ago. He recently hasn't been doing too well. Last night we had to send him to the hospital. If you see this... please come visit the hospital. We are on floor 3, room 227. I love you. - Jess," My eyes filled with dozens of tears each time I read it. The more I read it, the harder I cried.

I loved Jess too. I ran to my car. I drove as fast as I could to Los Angeles General Hospital. The lines on the road were blurred. There were too many tears in my eyes; my vision was almost shot. I finally made it to the hospital.

I ran at the speed of light to main desk. I said I was here to see the Sage family. That was Jess's last name. Sage. Jess Sage. The lady behind the desk gave me a sticker with my name for identification for security reasons. I got up to floor 3, room 227 as fast as anyone could.

"I knocked on the door just to make sure it was safe to go inside. Jess greeted me at the door with a tight hug. There were tears in her eyes. She pulled me aside in the hallway.

"Babe, I'm so sorry to hear about your father. Do you need me to get you anything? Food, a drink..." My own voice trailed off.

"I'm not hungry or anything. But thanks, Harry. I just need you here right now." She started sobbing as she threw herself into my arms. I kissed her forehead.

"Lets go down to the cafeteria. It's not lunch or dinner, so not many people will be down there," Jess said as she wiped tears from her eyes. I helped her wipe those tears away. I put my arm around her shoulder and we began to walk down the long corridor to the elevator that would take us down to the first floor.
