-Chapter 5-

We bolted out of the exit and ran for my car to avoid any commotion. I opened the car door for her. She got in and I went around the back of the car to get to the driver's side.

"Where do you want to eat? Lets go somewhere nice. My treat. You deserve it," I said.

"Sounds good to me. Thank you, Harry. I love you."

"I love you too," I said as I leaned in for a kiss.

Her smooth lips met mine and I pulled away to get going.

---------

We ended up eating at Aroma. One of Los Angeles' best restaurants. After we ordered two fillet mignon steaks we talked about my leaving.

Jess sighed, "Harry, I really don't want you to leave. I need you here!" Her voice broke off.

"I don't want to leave you either. I love you, you're my girlfriend," I continued, " But I have to go home and see my family. They haven't seen me in almost a year because of the tour. They need me too."

Jess nodded in understand. I reached for her hands. Our meal came and we talked more about anything. The food was delicious.

"Do you want me go take you back to the hospital or your house... or do you wanna come to my hotel?" I realized that that sounded really wrong. I started again, "Not like that," I let out a chuckle and so did Jess.

"No, I know what you mean." She said with a smile.

"Oh, there's that beautiful smile I love." And reached out to hug her tightly.

"Can we just go back to the hospital right now? I need to check on my dad," Jess answered.

"Of course, love," I answered back.

-----------

I walked Jess up to her father's room. She quietly knocked on the door. A female voice answered the knock, "Jess, is that you? Come in."

She walked in and I slowly eased my way in behind her. Her mother greeted Jess with a hug and a kiss on the cheek. She shook my hand and pulled me in for a hug before saying, "You're Harry. I've plenty about you. And not just from magazines," through her pain of her husband's sickness she smiled and winked at me, signaling towards Jess. She blushed.

We all talked for a few minutes. A machine began to rapidly beep as at least half a dozen nurses and doctors rushed in the room. Jess, her mother, and I all stepped back with horror and panic upon our faces.

A doctor called out, "He's going into cardiac arrest! Everyone out!"

We rushed reluctantly out of the hospital room. Tears filled all of our eyes. I took a tight grasp on Jess and her mother hung on to both of us as we prayed for a miracle. Jess began the prayer, all of our heads bowed, "God, we take so much for granted. Please forgive us for our wrongs. My father is very sick and needs your help. Please heal him. Please don't take him yet," more tears streamed down my cheeks, "Amen."

Her mother and I added, "Amen."

We peered our heads up. A nurse opened the door and walked out. "Linda Sage, can I please talk to you for a second? I have some tough news to deliver."
