In the morning, it was Sunday and I decided to go over to Janessa's house where she was having a party tonight.  I thought about inviting Derek, but we were already going to DeeDee's on Friday and I didn't want to push him.  But, I didn't have to worry about that because when I showed up at Jan's house, he was already there, sitting in a chair and looking oh so sexy as ever!!

"Hey, babe," he said, his voice bright.  "Thought I'd surprise you so I got permission from Jan to come over.  It really wasn't that hard to convince her, she practically ordered me to come."

"Not true!!"  A voice high and clear and lovely blew in from the kitchen where Jan and her mom were filling huge crystal bowls with Pepsi and Mountain Dew.  They had cookies in a gold platter, and cupcakes on a silver one.

"Is too!!" Derek called back.

Jan walked out of the kitchen with her black Kiss the Cook apron stained with different foods and said, "Hey, Val.  So glad you could make it.  Could you please run over to the store and pick up some candy?  And doughnuts.  Bring me the receipt so that I can pay you back, okay?"

"Alright," I said, grinning.  "Derek, you wanna come?  You don't have to but if you want . . ." I trailed off.

"Of course I do, babe.  Why wouldn't I?" and he smiled.  We linked our fingers together and walked out Jan's front door into the sunshine.

And a bunch of reporters!

"Are you going out!?" "Have you kissed yet?" "How long has it been since you dumped Jay?" "Did Erin dump you or did you dump her?" "How do you feel about being the new IT Couple at school?"

"Sorry!!  Please excuse me!!  I need to get to the store!!  Move please!!"  When they didn't respond, I yelled, "MOVE!!!"

They did move, but they started shouting more questions at me like "Why are you going to the store?" and "Where do you shop?" and, oh god, "Are you buying birth control?  Or condoms?" like they thought Derek and I were going to have sex or something!!  Even though I totally would, I would not until we were older.

Stupid reporters got to me and so I just had to scream "SHUT THE HELL UP AND GET OUT OF MY WAY!!!  By the way, that is a 'no comment' for each and every one of your stupid questions.  Toodles!!"  I grabbed Derek's hand and sprinted for the store – and safety.

Once inside the mini mart which carried punching bags, I walked over to the nearest one and gave it a good smack to the ugly face drawn on it.  Ugkh, it deserved so much more than just that.

"Babe."  I turned to look at him while he talked.  "Let's just get the stuff and then go, okay?"

"Mmkay, but I still just really wanna go slap the crap out of every single one of those monkeys.  Yecch."  My eyes turned to slits as I spoke, my anger roiling around inside me.

"No," he said and I shook my head in time with his.

We strolled down to the baked goods section and picked out a big pink box of doughnuts.  Then we went to the candy section and picked up 3 big bags of Tootsie candies.  We each got ourselves' a Pepsi from the fridge section and then headed over to the checkout counters and grabbed some different chips and paid, then walked back over to Janessa's house with our arms full of plastic bags.

"Woah!!" Jan gasped.  "Thanks!  How much?"  She peered into every bag until she found the receipt.

Thank you for shopping at Santa Rosa Mini Mart
