Waiting can be a painful thing. It kindles a lot of emotions, anxiousness in analyzing the possibilities, happiness in case there's a favorable outcome and distress if there isn't.Zeke didn't want to scare Aurelia by coming to her company immediately the next day. He couldn't even use the excuse of coincidence. So he showed up at her building exactly after a week.
But she was nowhere near there. He waited for nearly two hours every day after five when the office retires for the day. But she never came out. He went in after a few days to the receptionist to ask of her, in case she called in sick. But the receptionist had never heard of anyone called Aurelia and dismissed him. After nearly two weeks and three days, he was ready to give up.
Screw it, Let the Gods decide. I'm not gonna try anymore! He thought and went back to his apartment.
The next day onward, he returned to his own schedules. He thought about going back to the company multiple times during that day. But he resisted the temptations and went back to his apartment which he shared with four others. They were all different - Travis North, who was in the varsity team and one of the 'popular guys', Amy Lee, a Korean-American girl with a hyper cheery attitude, Jude Frisk, a physics major and a fellow dork and Poppy Samoa who was from Nigeria majoring in political sciences. They were all supportive of each other even though Jude was a jerk sometimes.
"So still no luck on the metal girl, Zeke?" Amy asked Zeke as soon as she entered the house.
"Who's metal girl?" Travis inquired while chewing on popcorn.
"Ew stop talking when your mouth's full. Metal girl is the girl who Zeke's been stalking for the past two weeks. "
"So why the name metal girl?" Poppy piped in.
"Oh yeah, that. Its cause her eyes are so magnetizing that stalker boy over here gets attracted to like a magnet," Amy said laughing.
"Wait, then shouldn't it be magnet girl?"
"Whatever! Metal girl sounds better," Amy waved it off and Poppy rolled her eyes.
"You know guys, I'm right here. And stop calling me a stalker! I am not stalking her!" Zeke cried exasperatedly.
"Yeah right," Poppy snorted, "He's coincidentally waiting every day near her company"
"Yeah, make fun of me all you want. I want none of your shit. I'm already pretty mindf*cked!" Zeke said as he left the room.
"And now you've made him angry!" Amy accused Poppy.
"He was already irritated, I merely stated the facts."
"Oh for God's sake, don't you know he never curses," Amy paused, "unless he is very, very angry?"
"Sure put the blame on me! I wasn't the one who started with the 'metal girl'!" She air quoted.
"Ok Travis, stop watching barbie movies and pick a side!"
"I am not watching barbie movies! Its Frozen in case you didn't know! And don't pin this on me. Jude also lives in this house! "
"In case you didn't notice nut head, he's out doing his part-time job so suck it up and talk to Zeke," Poppy said.
"OK fine!" Travis said as he went towards Zeke's room.
