Ron lowered his wand and gave me a long stare, but this time, his eyes didn't spark like they usually did. It killed me inside to know how upset he was, i knew what he was thinking.

"HOW COULD YOU!?" he bellowed. "WE HAVE A LITTLE RELATIONSHIP GOING ON HERE, AND YOU KISS MALFOY, OF ALL PEOPLE! IF YOU WANTED TO DATE SOMEONE ELSE, LIKE MAYBE A TEENAGE DEATH EATER, YOU SHOULD'VE SAID SO, HERMIONE!" and he stormed off. I could feel the tears streaking down my face as i rushed after him.

"No, Ron, please... It's not like that! He asked me to come down here, and he put this on ME!" Ron threw me off his shoulder. "I didn't, i promise!" He stopped walking and turned to shout at me again, by which time i was already running up towards the castle, fully sobbing. I kept running straight to Gryffindor Tower and didn't pay attention to anything, not even the fact that i collided with Professor McGonagall who tried to stop me and ask me what was going on.

When i got to the common room, i ran right into something so solid that it knocked me backwards. The person, whoever it was, helped me up and inside the portrait before talking. As soon as i heard the gentle voice, i knew who it was.

"Hermione... What's wrong?"

Harry.

Harry reached up to touch the side of my face, and used his finger to wipe my eyes.

"Tell me, Hermione. What's wrong?" He'd sat me down in one of the chairs and was kneeling in front of me & looking straight at my face. I looked back at him.

"Ron... Draco..." was all i managed to say.

"Calm down. You're okay. Hermione, what happened?" Harry had a persuasive voice, and stroked my arm.

"Draco," i nearly choked, trying to talk and cry at the same time. "I... Kissed him." Harry leapt up, furious. "But the bad thing is... I kind of liked it. And Ron... He sort of... I don't know..." i jumped up towards him, throwing my arms around his neck, sobbing again. He hugged me right back, and sat me down, looking deep into my eyes.

"You know how much i don't like Draco, and how happy i was when you and Ron got together," he started. I was ready to run out of there. "but it's your decision, Hermione. You know i'll be here for you, no matter what." He ended with a warm smile on his face. I gave a weak one back.

"I love you, Harry. You're my best friend." He put a hand on my shoulder.

"You too." and he led me back outside of the castle grounds and down to the lake, to that tree, where Draco still lay half unconscious, stirring when he heard my footsteps.
