Ashton

"I thought you hated this girl, so why did you give her my number and say we could go on a double date?"

I was so confused. Skylar wasn't being herself. She hated when people were set up. Especially when it's her or someone she knows being set up.

Now she's the one doing the setting up!

"Mikey was the one who gave me the idea."

My eyes widened with shock, "Mikey?"

"Michael, you know, the one you're in a band with."

"I know who Michael is Skye," she never calls anyone by a nickname but me, "but I still don't understand why you would set me up with someone you hate."

Skye looks down, shuffling her feet.

"You don't have a reason, do you?"

She begins twisting the ring on her finger, something she always does when she's nervous or doesn't know what to say.

"I just... I just felt bad that I'm in a relationship and you aren't."

I take a step back, "Do you really think I care that you're in a relationship and I'm not?  Cause if you do, I don't think you know me as well as you use to."

The light drains from her eyes at the sound of my words.

"Ash.."

She shakes her head in disbelief of what I just said.  "Skye, I didn't mean tha..." I try to tell her before she interrupts me.

"Just don't, Ashton," she mumbles, "Just... Don't talk to me."

In a minute, she was back in her car and leaving me alone at Our Spot.  Our Spot was just a place under our favorite tree in our favorite park.  It was where we would go when we didn't know where else to go.

I brush the hair out of my eyes, leaving my hand on my head.  What did I just do?  Our fights never went that far.  Usually our fights end with laughter, not anger.  They end with hugging, not walking away.

I sit down in the shade of the tree, letting it protect me from the blazing sun.

I had to call Skye and apologize.  It's the least I could do after yelling at her for setting me up with one of her alleged 'friends'.

"Oi mate!  It's Skylar!  Sorry I couldn't answer, but I'll get back to you as soon as I can.  Don't forget to leave a message!"

Voicemail... of course.

"Hey Skye, it's me.  Please answer.  I'm sorry I let it get that far, I was being stupid.  This is stupid.  Please call back.  I don't want us fighting over something as retarded as this."

I try calling again and again get voicemail.

And again.

And again.

And again.

Over and over, I call, she declines.

Eventually I give up on desperately calling her and head over to Michael's house. If she's there, great! If not, at least I'll be able to play music with one of my band members.

"Hey Ashton!" Calum welcomes me into Michael's home, "Luke's here too, we were all playing video games in Mikey's room."
