I glanced around the throne room nervously. Being as anxious as I was, I'd arrived a hour early, and had been explained how the day was going to go.
Me and Jayce would chose two locations to be where we would live when we entered the human world. As soon as we left the barrier that cut off our world from that of the humans, our memories would be blocked in a way, and we'd recieve false ones.
Though I was a bit dubious about it at first, it was explained that it would be best to spend a few years or months thinking that we were humans, because it would help us fit in better.
The only way we could recover our memories of this world was if we met in the human world. Upon making eye contact we'd remember everything and be able to start our mission.
I sighed, snapping out of my thoughts and glaring at the door. Jayce was officially two minutes late, and I in no way appreciated it. About a second later Jayce walked in, a smile pasted on his face.
But it didn't last long. As soon as his eyes met my glare, it was wiped off and he flinched. "Ah, sorry princess, I accidently broke a vase on the way here and had to help-"
I waved my hand, dismissing his excuse and turned to the guard "I sincerely apologize for his late arrival... Could we begin now?" The guard nodded solemnly and motioned to a map he'd spread out over a table.
I walked over and leaned over the table slightly, scanning the piece of paper. How was I supposed to choose one place when there were so many? I furrowed my brows and sighed slightly. Just then I felt a weight on my shoulder. I didnt have to turn around to know what it was.
For some strange reason I didn't feel annoyed but shook him off anyways "Jayce, I dont appreciate your touching me...." I mumbled, moving to the side "Do you know where you want to go yet or no?"
He shook his head, looking at the map before closing his eyes "Lets find out, shall we?" Before I could protest he leaned forward and randomly picked a location.
He opened his eyes, glanced at the place's name then grinned, turning to me "What about you?"
I stayed quiet and turned to the guard and pointed at where Jayce had pointed. I might as well choose somwhere close by so we can regain our memories quickly right?
The guard nodded and wrote down my location as well, before moving to explain to Jayce what was going to happen. Of course his smile grew when he realized we were going to be living with only human memories.
I chewed on my bottom lip and looked at the screen that was currently working on fabricating a past for the two of us. As soon as it finished, which would take about thirty more minutes now, I'd enter the human world with absolutely no memories of who I truly was.
Jayce seemed to sense my worry so he flashed me a assuring smile and patted the top of my head lightly "Don't worry, you'll be fine. You are fearless. Besides, you'll be living near me, so you'll get your memories back quickly"
I raised a brow, seeing this new supportive side of Jayce before nodding "Mhm, thanks". He turned back to the screen, his eyes full of excitement "No problem."
I turned my head back towards the screen when it beeped, signaling that it was done. I wrung my hands quietly, before forcing myself to put them in my pocket. Just remember what Jayce said.
As if reading your mind he turned and gave you a encouraging smile before reaching for your hand "C'mon. We want to get started as soon as possible right?" I nodded, allowing him to take my hand and walked toward two tables that had been set up.
I laid down, biting my lower lip as a woman in a lab coat neared me. Had she been there the whole time?
She stood at the side of my table, grabbing a needle and giving me a smile "Before we begin I'm going to have to ask you to clear your mind, please. Stress interferes with the process of eliminating old and creating new memories."
I nodded and closed my eyes, releasing a heavy sigh. Hopefully this wouldn't take too long. I took a deep breath, calming my self. Suddenly I felt something prick my skin and something cold press against both of my temples. Just as I went to open my eyes everything went white and I fell into oblivion.

The Choosing
VampireI took a deep breath as the double doors before me opened. I stepped forward, into the light as I had rehearsed a thousand times before. I bowed my head slightly before meeting a pair of expectant eyes. The choosing.
