Yellowstar sat out in the cold. The water dripped off the leaves because of the morning dew. The dew was thicker than usual, lacking it's normal thinness.
Scarletfang, the deputy, came up to Yellowstar. "Yellowstar," he mewed, "we are not catching enough prey to feed the clan."
Yellowstar was silent for a while. She gazed up at the morning sky, half full of light and color, half full of darkness and black. This is how the clan was, a rising good and a setting darkness.
"Yes," Yellowstar finally mewed. "We must not let that bring our hopes if becoming a good clan down."
Scarletfang nodded. He started to pad away, but Yellowstar stopped him.
"Scarletfang, do you think I am a good leader?" She mewed to the deputy. Scarletfang stopped walking for a second and hesitated before simply nodding and went on his way. Yellowstar hung her head down low. If she could not lead the clan, why was she leader?
