They had been running for so long they lost track of time. Taylor and Qiūtiān were so out of breath they couldn't speak. The forest around them was dense and foggy. No matter where they looked, it was the same.
"Do you think we're safe?" Taylor inquired. But she was greeted with silence "Qiūtiān?"
"I'm fine. Just out of breath." Taylor could hear that. Easily. "You run way too fast"
"So tell me more about these powers." Qiūtiān noticed the emphasis immediately.
"Why the emphasis on the word powers?"
"Because I don't exactly know if that's what they are. Do I call them powers.........or.......special abili-?"
"Do you want me to tell you about them or do you want to keep rambling?" Taylor gave him a sour look, but didn't say anything. "I'll take that as a yes. Basically you are able to withstand more than any other person. I'm not sure what that means quite yet, but it's not like anything I've ever seen before. But what really interested me was your speed. It's extremely hard to keep up with you, even for me and my speed is hard to beat."
"So I'm like a human bullet?" That sounded cool to Taylor. But scary at the same time. She knew that all of this could be dangerous and she had no idea if she could control these......."So powers or abilities?" Taylor again inquired.
Qiūtiān just sighed and rolled his eyes. "Whatever you want to call them. But...............powers sounds..............more surreal."
"Powers it is then!" Then, they once again sat in silence. But it wasn't uncomfortable. Qiūtiān was used to the silence, as was Taylor, but neither of them knew where they were going next. And both could sense that it was going to be an uncomfortable conversation.
"You should get some sleep. I'll take first watch." Qiūtiān said bluntly. It may as well have been an order. Taylor hated being ordered around but she was tired. It had been a long day.
<<~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~>>
The gentle morning sunlight filtered through the dark, rain forest green leaves, the birds twittered as they flew overhead and butterflies danced over the ground in vibrant, hypnotizing colours.
Taylor yawned and stretched, taking in the fresh morning air. She stood and looked around her, trying to remember how she got to a random clearing in the middle of a random forest. The events of the previous day then came rushing back to her in a flurry and she sat up sharply. "Why did you let me sleep all night? You should have woken me up!"
"We are not here to question what I should and shouldn't do. I let you sleep because that particular necessity isn't a necessity for me. I can live without sleep for a full week."
"Sure" Taylor said disbelievingly. A full week? That seemed impossible. Taylor knew for sure that she would never be able to pull off such a feat. Or the feat of living if she didn't eat soon. "We should find something to eat soon."
"And where do you suppose we go? The local supermarket? The fast food place down the street? I have no idea where we are or how far away any form of civilization is, so unless you have some sort of transportation devi-"
"There's an apple tree right there." Qiūtiān went bright red and just looked away.
"That could work too." He said, being childish levels of stubborn. Taylor giggled at Qiūtiān and went over to pick a juicy, ripe, red apple. Or more like sour, stale, brown-speckled apple. But it would have to do for now. She picked one for Qiūtiān and threw it at him. He flinched and it hit his shoulder, causing Taylor to giggle again. He seemed to blush slightly but he was bending down to pick up the apple before Taylor could check twice.
"So where next?"
"Why don't we just keep walking? It's not like we have anywhere that we need to be."
"Stop being so morbid! Help me grab a few more of these apples and then we'll get going." Neither of them knew where to, but they were determined to get out of this mess, Taylor back to her home and Qiūtiān to anywhere he could rest, so that everything would go back to normal. But what neither of them knew was that nothing would be normal ever again.
This strange week was the start of the new normality.

Author's Note
Holidays! Which means plenty of new chapters on stories! Hopefully. I have pretty much nothing to say except thank you for all of the reads, votes and comments that I've gotten so far. In fact, I went on a camping trip and on the half an hour trip there, 10 people read this story. I don't know what happened over that time but I was happier than happy. Everybody enjoy your time off and if you have the time, please leave some constructive criticism and tell me how i can improve.
