Chrysanthemums glow at night

Chapter 2

Julianna's POV

I grabbed the younger girls hand. "Hey I'm Juli," I said introducing myself.

"I'm uhh Jasmine. I love your dancing!" She said stuttering just a tad.

"Aww thank you! So is that a guitar you have there?" I asked her. Her cheeks warmed to a slight blush.

"Yeah it is, my performing art is playing guitar and singing" she said timidly. She started idly playing with her skirt.

I'm not usually the one to step up, I'm not usually the leader in something like this. It's just kinda natural when you are the older one if you know what I mean.

"So you are like a younger version of Taylor Swift? I asked her. Her cheeks turned beet red. The teacher, Mrs. Willworthy overheard and she made her way over to us.

"Ms. Monroe are you sure you will have time to help a younger student with the dance championships coming up right after the new class concert?" Mrs. Willworthy asked me.

"Yes I am very sure. Besides I could always use another friend to graduate with" I casually added. I looked to Jasmine to see her reaction.

"Wait so you mean... If I win I get to graduate a year early?! " jasmine asked excitedly.

"Yep with a scholarship to the performing arts academy in Hollywood. That's the same scholarship I'm going for. Except you won't just be up against these 48, I think it's all the schools in our grouping. So you have to get first against a thousand others, not to freak you out." I said. She looked like she was hyperventilating and is about to pass out.

"So I have a chance at skipping grade 12?!" She screamed

"If you pass it all, then yes" Mrs. Willworthy said. And with that she walked away smiling while I stood beside the shrieking Jasmine.

I took a piece of paper and pen out of my purse and wrote my phone number down.

"Here, text or call when you want to get together to practice? I've been with this class for a long time so I know what skills you need to make it as a singer in this standard. I gave her the slip of paper and walked away.

Krysol's POV

••••••••••••

The school day had passed rather quickly for krystol as she hurried to her last period class. Luckily it was her favourite. English.

Quietly she took her seat beside Julianna who like her, had an interest in reading and already had a book out. Krystol was also reading the same book, city of bones so she took it out and also began reading.

"Alright class! Pay attention up front please" Mrs. Greer called attention to the class.

"Ok so today we will be starting the world awareness project. You shall pick an 11th grader and one of your classmates to help you out. You will also choose a charity and make a tri-board, a pamphlet and a persuasive essay about your charity and why people should donate. I will choose your classmate but if you have an 11th grader in mind let me know at the end of class. "Mrs. Greer said. She started pairing people up. Rebecca and Debra, Claire and Paul. Etc. I didn't really pay attention until she reached me.

"Krystol and Julianna you 2 shall work together. Do you have an 11th grader in mind?" Mrs. Greer said. I started thinking myself a bit. There wasn't really anyone I could think of in the 11th grade...

Before I could answer Juli beat me to it. "Could Jasmine be in our group please?" She asked. Mrs. Greer nodded, wrote that down and continued on.

"So any charities in mind?" I asked her. I was glad she already knew an 11th grader to be our partner so we could get an earlier start.

"Umm not really. Do you?" She asked me. I didn't really have any in mind. "Not really" I said.

"Well how about you text me later and maybe we can get together with jasmine and discuss the project later" she said and wrote down her number on a piece of paper.
