I sat in the detention room, waiting, watching the clock. Mr. Minihan, the science teacher, sat at the desk at the front of the room. I looked at the clock again, 2:45. I stood up, and walked towards the door. Mr. Minihan stopped me and said,
“Where do you think you're going?” I turned around and said back, “to enjoy my summer.”
I walked outside, to the main parking lot and took a deep breath. Finally. No more school. Done. Just one more day until graduation. I got inside of my car, and turned it on. Time to go home.
When I arrived at my house, I walked up to my room. I sat down on my bed. Tomorrow, I thought. tomorrow I'm on my own. Knock Knock.
“Come In.” I said. My mom opened the door.
“Hey, why are you home so early?” she asked. I had to think quick. I can't tell her I just left.
“Uh, I... He let me go.” I blurted. She stared at me suspiciously. I didn't want to have to spend the next 2 weeks of summer locked up in my room.
“Well, what a nice man.” she said.
“Yeah.” I replied.
The next morning, my alarm clock beeped, and my eyes opened immediately. I smacked my hand on the off button, and hopped out of bed.
“Hey mom.” I said, rubbing my eyes. She was sitting leaning on the kitchen counter, drinking a glass of orange juice.
“Good Morning. Todays the big day!” She said with excitement if her voice.
“Yeah. Today is the day that is going to change my life forever.” I said. But the truth is, I really wasn't ready for what was about to happen.
Chapter 2
My mom was too excited to wait, so she made me drive to school 15 minutes early. I looked outside of the car door, and something wasn't right. Everybody was outside. usually, everybody is indoors.
I hopped out of the car and walked up to my friend, Michael.
“Michael,”
“Hey..” He said turning around.
“What’s going on? why is everybody outside?” I asked him. He looks at me with a confused face.
“You don’t know? somebody came to school and just attacked a kid, he tackled him, and bit him... and then.. he just kept on going, he wouldn't stop..” I took a step back. that hit me hard.
“Dude, what happened to the kid that was on this crazy rampage?” I asked Michael. He looked at the ground and went back and forth from heel to toe.
“They... They had to kill him” I almost passed out. I took a deep breath and stepped back.
“Is the other kid alive?” I asked, hoping for the words He’s ok.
“He died too.”
“This is horrible. What are we going to do?” I asked.
“We have to wait another day for graduation.” He said.
“That sucks. How about we drive down to the mall, and meet up with some friends?” I suggested. I saw kole down by the entrance. I walked up to him and tapped him on the shoulder.
“Hey Ryan.” He said.
“Michael and I are going down to the mall to hang out, wanna come with?” I asked.
“Sure, lets get out of here.” He said.
Chapter 3
“I wonder why that kid did that.” I said. We were sitting in the food court, eating some chinese food.
