We remained on Mount Sunshine for the night. And while I was anxious about this, I set up a fire to cast light to try and scare what may in the shadows away. Abandoned things never took kindly to seeing me again, many claimed it was my fault they remained abandoned. In truth they never truly allowed me to help them.Their anger grew, their purpose lost in the blurred lines of understandable and delusional.
As a result, many were after me.
It was rare for me to spend the night anywhere but in my little modest home, this was one of the main reasons.
Little Deemo seemed to sense my worry and scanned our surroundings as if expecting something to jump out at us. She looped her hair in her fingers and fiddled with the bow. The fire crackled in front of us, yet she still seemed nervous from the shadows that, at the moment, harboured nothing.
Even without the possible danger, the section of world we were in was a little dark.
Looking up, there were some stars, but they were far from impressive. I was nervous, but I couldn't let Little Deemo be scared. I stood up and held a hand out to her. She looked to my hand and pulled herself up with my aid. She followed me when I walked away from the fire. I climbed up one of the rocks and looked around beyond the mountain to the scenery.
Little Deemo stomped her foot and made a form of whine. I expected it to be her calling me down.
I looked to her and made a gesture to wait a moment. This wasn't just for her, this was for my nerves as well.
When I found what I was looking for, I slid down the rock. Little Deemo looked up to me, her harsh eyes demanding an explanation. I didn't offer one with words, I kneeled down, picked her up and walked around the rock I had recently climbed.
My Place was a wonderful and colourful land during the day. Different animals came about, there was a warm colour in the grass and trees, and the sun made the world glow. But at night, the world held a different kind of beauty, a cooler one.
In a different light, a beautiful thing could still be beautiful. In My Place's case, lack of light made it beautiful.
While no animals lingered in the sky or on the ground, the world echoed with soft chirps of night animals.
Little Deemo released a gasp when we turned the corner.
What was once a glowing sunburnt valley of gold was now a navy field with crystal dew coating grass and trees. The moon was an illusion of a creamy white, coating My Place with a different glow, giving off the illusion of diamonds. Odd fireflies buzzed in the air, and the world hummed with life in its sleep.
I placed Little Deemo on the ground to interact with it herself. She ran up to a small rock and perched herself on it to look out. A gasp echoed in the air as she took it all in.
I stared upwards, watching the stars gleam and the moon smile at its illusion.
I could hear the soft snores of things in the area, giving off their own different beat and hum to add to the music that night played.
It was also a time that grew cold, the chill in the air stimulated the new setting. This was something I was granted the pleasure of seeing every night, and while for me it was always there, it surprised me how breathtaking My Place could be. Little Deemo seemed amazed by this, and looked back to me constantly as if asking me, 'Are you seeing this? This is so pretty!'
I gave her a simple stare, almost smiling at how excitable she seemed.
She seemed to forget about the potential peril we were in. And for a few moments I did as well. We stared in silence at the scenery, until we both grew tired. Little Deemo seemed prepared to sleep on the rock she sat on, her eyes nodding off every now and then only to be jolted awake.
